artificial sweeteners?

I will be 4 weeks out on Friday and all along I thought I was having the "foamies", well it turns out it's probably just a ton of foamie spit that just keeps coming back up....what I have noticed is this...it seems to happen when I drink SF koolaid or eat SF popsicles or suck on SF mints...I start to foam up and I get what feels like hunger pains. The other day I accidently ate one of my sons regular pudding cups (should have know when it tasted so good)...it had tons of sugar and it went down much better, no foaming stuff...Is it possible this is reaction to something they are putting in SF stuff?
Are there RNY'ers who cannot tolerate artificial sweeteners, but can tolerate real sugar?

Have you noticed a trend with a specific sweetner?  Do you always have a problem with aspertame, or with sucralose.. or could it be from the sugar alcohols (which can give alot of people issues)?

Start writing this stuff down.. it makes the learning curve *much* shorter.

I just went downstairs and compared all the ingredients of the sf things causing  foamie spit and the two things they all have in common are "maltodextrin" and "aspartame"...oh, and there's no sugar alcohols.

Well.. aspertame is the evil stepchild of the sweetner industry this week.

Have you had any benefiber since surgery?  If you had and had no problems, then you're fine on maltodextrin.  But, it's a possibility because it is used as a fiber supplement.. and that may be just too much for your little pouch.

If you don't have any benefiber, check and see about getting some of the new splenda with fiber.. their fiber comes from maltodextrin.

ahhhhhh so you noticed the not too subtle changes.  Yes I was a blond (except at the roots) lol.  My hair is also cut up to my ears now!!!!!!!!!!!  the color is a topazy brown color now.  I think this is closer to my natural color - don't really know because I haven't seen my real hair color in 20 years!    I didn't wear my glasses in that pic either.  I'm thinking about trying contacts again.

I'm planning to be off for about 2 to 2-1/2 weeks.  I'll give you my addy in a pm.  (that is what you were talking about isn't is?)
