Hello All,

I am 3 years post op and starting my final tune up process. I am scheduled for Breast Reduction surgery on 9/22. I still want to lose another 30 lbs. Has anyone here had this procedure?

Hi Margi, congrats on your weight loss success and getting to the "tune up phase".  I hope to be at that point one day myself, except I have the opposite problem, I could use some breast tissue.  Too bad they can't transplant it into me :-)

I have  friend who just had breast reduction surgery on Monday.  She had her's done here in Greenville at the Surgi Center and is doing great.  She has not had WLS but did lose about 35 pounds prior to the surgery with Weigh****chers.  It's early, but she is very happy with the results so far.  She is scheduled for a tummy tuck later this month with the same surgeon.

Good luck!  Alice

Margi,

I had breast reduction surgery about 12 years ago.  I have only one regret.  I had too much removed.  Now that I have lost weight, I need implants. :}  Don't let anyone tell you it want be painful.  I remember that surgery like it was yesterday.  My life changed after that surgery because I no longer experienced  back pain and my clothes fit so much better.  Go for it girl and enjoy the new you.  PM me if you have specific questions.

Hi Annie,

Dr Lynn Damitz is doing my surgery. My excercise is 100% better then when I saw you last but I have hit another weight plateau. I'll just keep working at it but I'm gonna miss the pool for the winter....LOL

I had my surgery almost 20 years ago.  I was a 38JJJ.   I had to have my bras made specifically for me in New York at $110 a piece.  I do not regret having this surgery.  I went down to a 38C.  Now that I have lost weight I am a 38 A.  At nearly 61 I do not plan to have implants unless they stop making padded bras in my size.   Like the other blogger, do not let anyone that it does not hurt.  It was not extremely painful but I was really loving my pain meds for at least a week.  Make sure that you have bras that open in the front for when you come home.  Do not plan on raising your hands above your head for at least 3-6 weeks.  Find a sink that you can bend over to do your hair in.  Do not lift anything heavier than a pillow for those six weeks.  I had a very sweet friend who came in and did my housework for me every week for a month.  I made and froze meals for my family for at least two weeks.   My surgery was done at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and I received the best of care.  I had to chuckle when they put me in the room with a bunch of women who were getting implants.  Good Luck!

I had Breast Reduction surgery 20 years ago from a DD to a B.  Then gained the weight and went back to a D and then had the surgery and now back to a B.  All I can say is that Gastric Bypass is a walk in the park next to Breast Reduction Surgery.  WOW - I was 21 and I remember it like it was yesterday.  OUCH.  They didn't tell me about the drainage tubes, the fact that you can't lift your arms... so getting dressed is next to impossible unless you really want to wear a cape all the time.  And you have to wear your bra 24 hours a day for quite some time.  The stitches... they were not so bad until I had to have them taken out.  But did I mention the drainage tubes... WOW - those were the worst.  However - the results were fabulous!!!!  I can wear any cute bras, wear a bathing suit, look normal in clothes, my back didn't hurt, my shoulders didn't have dents in them.  SO much better than lugging those puppies around.  So, be prepared that this is not an easy surgery, but be prepared that it is a well worth it surgery!  Oh yeah - scars...  well - yes I still have them, yes you can see them.  They do go down in color, but you can still feel where they are.  As long as your not a stripper or living at a nudist camp, no one will know.

Good Luck Margi and I am sure you will do fine!

Hi Margi....

I had my reduction about 5 years ago. I went from a 42DDD to a 38/40 C.  He said it would be proposionate with my body frame then. Since then I've had my WLS and again, I have big boobs, LOL.  It was one of the best things I've done for myself.  PPl no longer stare at your breasts, clothes fit better and you'll have more choices, your back and shoulders will not hurt as much, and you can run or jog, etc.  And bras??????  NOW YOU CAN BUY THE PRETTY ONES!!

Like others have said, it is a very sore surgery because almost everything you do involves some part of the chest muscles, but you can get through it!  Research all you can and find a great doctor.  I used to go to a support site called www.makemeheal.com or maybe it was www.helpmeheal.com

Best of luck to you, and questions or concerns, PM me, but if you go to that site, I'm sure you'll find those ppl are just as great as these are here for WLS>

Band to DS

Unfortunately, I had to delete this message due to privacy concerns.

Got a lap band in 2008. Tried hard, but didn't lose much weight & developed swallowing problems. Fought my insurance company for almost a year & finally had a band to DS revision on 5/11/12. Have now lost 125 pounds. Yay!
