Surgery in 2 days....

I had my preop testing done today and I met with anesthesia. I am really nervous now. Anesthesia told me that more likely than not I"ll have to have a central line since my veins are so poor. Being a nurse, I know what I'm in for there and I'm completely terrified. Between that and the arterial line, I'm completely stressed out.  At least I just have 2 days to fret about it!

I know it is easy to worry right before surgery I was a wreak.
I hope you will find that peaceful place before surgery.

I'm in the very beginnings of all of this so help me.  You are the first I've heard of that needed central lines, and so I can understand why you would be nervous.  I'm sure your MD has your best interest in mind.  Is this something that is normally done with RNY?

They told me that I would need a central line because the veins in my arms are so small. The last time I had an outpatient procedure, I woke up with the IV in my foot!

They call me Baby Veins for a reason... I have the worlds WORST veins in the world!!! it takes them 1000 people to start a line on me and it puts me into a total anxiety attack and also hurts very bad!! I wish you the best of luck and try to relax and congrats on your big day!!

My anxiety is a little less today. I've decided that it would be better to have 1 big stick than have to be stuck over and over in my arms like I've had done in the past!

I can't believe that my new life starts tomorrow!!!!
