I'm going to freeze to death this winter

OMG - I'm at work with a long sleeve shirt and a sweater on - What on earth am I going to do this winter when it really gets cold? Suggestions? Help?

It's just one more thing in the long list of ways that I have officially turned into my mother (God help me).

Today makes 7 weeks since surgery. All week my scales have toyed with me on reaching 262 and I'm sorry to say that again this morning they toyed with me. 261 BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I scared my dog when I started jumping up and down in the bathroom this morning. (I'd be scared of me too) I still can't wrap my head around everything that has changed in 7 short weeks. No foamies or dumping this week (Yes I'm knocking on wood as I type this). Clothing sizes have gone down a size. The weather was nasty this week but I walked everyday at lunch either outside or inside the courthouse for at least 20 minutes.

I feel so good - inside and out. I can't figure out how to post a picture that I took with my cell phone this week. It's the first picture of "ME" that I have ever actually liked. I got my hair cut short and highlighted with mustard & copper colored highlights. Way cool.

I hope yall have great days -

- Iris

Band to DS

Unfortunately, I had to delete this post due to privacy concerns.

Got a lap band in 2008. Tried hard, but didn't lose much weight & developed swallowing problems. Fought my insurance company for almost a year & finally had a band to DS revision on 5/11/12. Have now lost 125 pounds. Yay!

Hi Iris,

Reading your post really reminded me of myself a little over a year ago. Congratulations on your successes. I'm sure that they will continue.

I just wanted to let you know that your thermostadt will eventually even out. It's almost like going through reverse hot flashes when you are losing so fast. As you quit the dramatic drop in weight things get more normalized. I don't freeze all the time anymore, but I have to tell you that I sure did handle the summer heat sooooo much better than ever before and I do get cold more easily now. I just don't have those freezing flashes that used to occur during the rapid weight loss.

Enjoy the new you!

Only 4 days out and I can already see new clothes in my immediate future. All I have is capris and shorts and they are already loose on my. I hope I can find a few sweaters and pants that can shrink a bit with me for a while. I will have to buy some jeans for my job. They provide the shirt. I hope they have long sleeves. My house is kinda cold but haven't turned on the heat yet. I did turn the heater on for the dogs on their porch. But the rest of us are handling the cold okay. I wrap up in a blanket on my recliner and we put an extra blanket on the bed at night so far. Can't turn on the heat until we move a couch from in front of the radiater in the living room. I am not going to move furniture quite yet!

I know exactly what you mean. It is freezing outside and I am going to have to start doubling up on shirts soon.  I have also caught my first cold since surgery and it is NOT pleasant at all.  I am hoping the Tylenol cold helps when I go get it.  I will probably start using the heat within the next couple of weeks.

Iris,
I'm so happy for you!  WOW you are doing great!  Your excitement is very contagious...lol.  Isn't it great to exercise?

Guess you're just going to have to get an electric blanket and snuggle with it in the evenings and at night.  If you're like me, who would have ever thought that I'd ever complain about being cold!!

I hope you can get that pic problem figured out.  I think you may need to buy an usb cord for your phone in order to transfer it to your pc.  Check with your phone provider.
Hugs! Donna L (finding_me) - I just know I'm here somewhere...

Iris,  My daughter broke her jaw in 3 places in July after an auto accident and while she was losing so much weight so fast healing, she about froze to death!  She was constantly bundled up, teeth chattering, IN JULY!!!  Poor thing!  You will probably level out with the freezing eventually like she did.

Congratulations on having such success with your weight loss thus far.  You are doing so fantastic!  Can't wait to see the new 'do!  {{{Hugs!}}}

I have just one piece of advice for you on the freezing issue ~~ GET USED TO IT!!!  lol!!!

I never ever got cold before surgery, in fact I stayed so hot all the time that I would run my ceiling fan in my bedroom on high every single night even in the dead of winter!!!  But now, I stay so cold all the time, especially at work.  And winters here in this part of Virginia are brutal!!!!  I don't know how I am going to make it thru this one if I freeze all the time already!!!  Scott and I went out to dinner earlier this evening and I wore my winter coat.  He thought I was crazy!!  But dang it, I'm cold!!  Oh well, we can at least take some comfort in the fact that we can always add layers of clothing versus being able to take off only so many before it becomes *****graphic in the eyes of the law!!

Life is short ~ dance like no one's watching!!

Yup, you're right...you're going to freeze.  It's one of the bumps in this roller coaster ride.  :)  Invest in some good toasty warm socks.  Can you have a space heater at your desk?  How about one of those plug in fleece warming blankets?  Either way, dress in layers...it'll help mildly with your insulation.

I'm hoping I'll be a little better off this year since I'm not actively losing anymore.
