Cool experience at Resturant

Last night, the wife and I had a long anticipated night out alone.  This was the first time in several months without the kids, so we decided to go to a nice resturant and actually be able to take our time with dinner and not order something that came with a toy!  LOL  We went to Rucker Johns in Greenville and I wanted to just let everyone know how great they were regarding our "special" dining needs.  When the waiter took our order, we told him we wanted to share an entree because we were both RNY patients.  He knew exactly what we were talking about and said that would be fine.  Well, at most resturants in our experience, this means an extra plate and a knife...if you ask for it. We were actually charged a "spit entree fee" at another resturant once!  The menu said our entree came with a salad and a side item, so I told my wife, that she could have the salad and I'd eat most of the side dish.  Well, they split the salad before they bought it out and delivered it to us on two plates with two different dressings.  The entree was also divided in the kitchen and brought out as two small seperate entrees, all for the price of ONE meal!  I have never seen this type of attention given to folks like us. I just wanted to let ya'll know this is a great place to eat for WLS folks.  By the way, the food was GREAT!!

Disclaimer:  I DON"T work for Rucker Johns!  Really!  LOL

Jason,
I'm glad you and your wife had a night out together and that it turned out to be such a great experience.  To have a waiter to understand without a lot of explanation is outstanding.  Hope you left a big tip!!!!  lol
Hugs! Donna L (finding_me) - I just know I'm here somewhere...

Thanks so much for sharing!!!  I hope that lots of people in the G'ville area will read your post and patronize that restaurant.  I just think that was fantastic.  You should write a note to the manager praising the waiter you had and applauding their service to you.

Thanks Jason for sharing! We have a Rucker John's in Monkey Junction and when I'm further out I'll keep that in mind.

The GM at Rucker John's in Winterville has had RNY, so the staff are all very in tune to our needs.  He's very interesting to talk to too.

Hey Jason:

That really sounds great...wish there was one in the Charlotte area.   Didn't know your wife had WLS also.     My husband only weighs 155 lbs so he doesn't need it but he also shares his meal with me most of the time.  It really helps on the bill also!

Take care, Pam

Very nice!  So glad the two of you got to enjoy a grown-up night out and that it was such a positive experience.  I second the idea about writing the letter of gratitude, but I bet you are already on top of that.  If I'm ever in Greenville, I know just where I'm going for dinner!  At the place where Jason works... JUST KIDDING!!!

Ellen, I knew someone there had to have educated them for them to be so in tune with WLS folks!  That's really good to know.  I sent them an email through the corporate web site this morning letting them know how great it was.

Thanks everybody!
