Pre-ops - want to participate in a research study @ECU and earn $300?

The ECU Biomechanics lab is doing a research study to determine how a person's gait changes after having weight loss surgery.  I just completed my 3rd and final visit.  It's really easy and they pay you $100 each visit to participate.  All you have to do is let them put some little sensors on you and you walk back and forth a few times, walk up 3 steps 3 or 4 times and that's it.  You go once before surgery, once at 6 months post op and at the one year post-op mark. 

The $$ really came in handy to buy new clothes!

I wish I had known a month ago. I sure would have signed up for that one especially since there is no medication necessary for this study. Oh Well.

I am one of the few participants they have for that study too!! It is actually entertaining...LOL and the money is definately a nice addition!! If you are out of town, they will give you an extra $20 each visit!! It is completely painless and is really neat to be part of a university research study!!!

And they are really flexible as far as scheduling, if you live out of town, they have no problems scheduling your study, the same day you go to Greenville for your follow-ups, so ya kill 2 birds with 1 stone and get paid!!

I think I was one of the first ones they enrolled.  Now I'm all done!  Just waiting on the last check to come in the mail! 

Thanks for the info Alice! I sent an email this morning! I hope I can get in on this. From what I read (and understood) of the project summary on ECU's website it is right up my alley. My mom, also obese, has had one knee replaced and is going to get the other done in the coming year. I go for my decision visit tomorrow so I hope they reply to my email soon. Thanks again!
