one little teeny weeny step for Nancy....
I actually completed all the paperwork for a DS with Dr. Dennis Smith in Atlanta. Whew!
I am becoming more and more calm about the idea of going through with surgery. The alternative of doing nothing is too heavy a burden to bear... (pardon the pun) and as somebody said to me, How many big fat ladies do you see who are 80 years old? Not many, unless they're in wheelchairs.
I've stopped getting on the scale, and in fact, I'll admit I'm just eating what I want. But I am going to the YWCA 3 times a week. I do some work with weights and then spend 10 minutes on the treadmill and 10 minutes on the bicycle, at the least. If I can get the person next to me talking I stay much longer! I always ending up all sweaty and with my heart rate up to about 130.
My daughter sounded relieved that I was back on the wagon considering WLS. So I am moving forward.. slowly... but forward.
I enjoy reading everybody's posts.

As Jordin Sparks puts it:
To take one step at a time
There's no need to rush
It's like learning to fly, or falling in love
It's gonna happen when it's supposed to happen
And we find the reasons why
One step at a time
I dedicate this song to YOU, Nancy! (How I wish I could do a Casey Kasum impersonation!)
Hi Nancy,
Congratulations on taking steps to find the healthier you. I wish you every success as you make your way on this amazing, life-changing and life-affirming journey. Getting up and going to the gym 3 times a week will not only lay the foundation for a healthier you prior to surgery, but also for the lifestyle changes that will hellp to assure your longterm success.
Wishing you all the best,
Barb

I'm so glad you've reconsidered having WLS and I really think you'll be happy with your decision. I thought about WLS for 3 years before I finally just did it. This is a very personal decision and not right for everyone... Please oh please keep asking those questions, that will help your mind wrap around and accept your decision. Slow moving forward is still moving forward... I'm excited for you!!!
