Anyne Drink Diet Carbinated Drinks?

Hi Misty,

I have had a carbinated drinks post op; our program allows them after 6 months. I used to be addicted to coca-cola and while I 'can' have, I haven't enjoyed it all that much and have gotten to a point where I don't really miss it. It doesn't 'hurt' me when I have a carbonated drink, but I can't have much at any one time and I fill up quickly because of the carbonation. I'd check with your dr and if they give you the go ahead, you can give it a try. It bothers some and doesn't bother others.

Good luck,

Barb

I drink soda and do not have a problem.
As for the claim that it can stretch the pouch out - there is no proof that it will or will not stretch a pouch - I have yet to come across a single study done... some people will reference the 'balloon test' when you fill a balloon with soda but a stomach is not the same as a closed balloon since it has two openings.
I will say that soda is dehydrating, for every glass you should drink an additional glass of water... it should in no way be a substitute for your daily water intake. If its a 'trigger' for you than stay away.
My only 'bad' experience is w/diet my dew, for whatever reason if I drink it I get horrible food cramps. strange stuff.

Since my RNY i burp quite a bit.   I have taken a sip of my husbands and this just brings on a huge burp....so i tend to stay away from the additional air bubbles.

Take care,

Pam

I am a huge diet pepsi fan.  I am 13 months out and just started drinking diet pepsi about a month ago.  I only drink about 6 ounces a day and I have to pour it into a glass of ice.  If I drink it straight from the bottle or can then it makes me hurt.  Just drink enough to give you the taste.  Don't let it overcome your healthier choices of drinks.  I drink water or unsweet tea the rest of the day.             Donna

I have tired Pepsi, however, it kills my gut!

I'm over 2 years post op and don't drink it.  I usually drin****d Tea, which is just as bad sometimes.  Carbon is not my friend and neither is celery.
