When old friends look old

Last night Lee and I went to pay our respects to a friend who passed away on Tuesday.
I saw many old friends and the responce I got from many was "Annie you look great." Well I feel great and even wore some black leather pants size 18P which means petite LOL
What I noticed was OMG all these people looked soooo old.
Actually the friends are around my ex husbands age which makes them 12-15 years older than me.
Someone asked if I was wearing contacts I said no and they said "your eyes look so bright"
Who knows maybe wls could be the fountain of youth.

I am only a couple of years senior to you and I know we have a ton of living left to do so old is not in my vocab. We had this surgery so we can enjoy the rest of our lives and not feel old all the time. And you know what I think it is working.

After seeing you last weekend Ann I know it is working for you.
I am so looking forward to seeing you tonight.
Lee started his 9 days of vacation yesterday and together we got alot done.
Lee and Matt kept telling me not to worry it would all come together.
Well the Happy Boys were right LOL
Louann did a wonderful job on the costumes.

Annie,  I am a research-aholic.  One of my favorite topics is "anti-aging, longevity."  I've been giving it quite a bit more thought recently.  That is why the quote from Christina Applegate, that I shared on the forum this week, touched me.  Here I'm about to undergo something so life-changing and be given the opportunity to "start anew," if you will.  So many things that prevent, slow, and/or reverse aging are linked to diet, nutrition, exercise, etc.  Well, something really hit me the other day that I hadn't though of before now!  One of the things they have linked to longevity is a reduced diet, or "calorie restriction."  Well, RNY, the band, etc. indeed restricts our calories...boy oh boy, I was so excited when I made this connection!  I'm also super excited that I will be able to continue to be vegetarian, making vegan choices as much as possible, after my RNY.  Perhaps I'll live forever?!  lol  JUST KIDDING!  But I really, really do think you are on to something. 

P.S.  I feel terrible that I was so on-topic with the aging issue that I didn't tell you how sorry I am that you lost your friend.  {{{Hugs}}} 

I think there's also a genetic predisposition associated with visable signs of aging.  My mom is nearly 70 and she has almost no wrinkles, neither do I and I'll be 48 next month.  Most people think I'm about 35, although you might not be able to tell from my avatar or the pics I've posted.  I think it's partly genetic and partly because mom and I were never sun worshipers.

 Annie my poor mind is still stuck at eighteen and I keep getting more wrinkly. We went to the Grand Ole Opry this weekend and when I saw Little Jimmie Dickens perform at 88 I realized he was still 18 too and all was well. Get you a leather jacket to go with the pants and heck enjoy all you can every day just dont forget to tell your man you love him every day too. Life can be as long as you want it to be but nobody knows  when the train comes into the station so while yesterday is history and tomorrow is the future get all you can out of the day, throw your watch out the window and kick up your heels as much as you can get away with.
