I'm 10 monthes post-op.  I just started to workout at the gym a couple of weeks ago.  I love it!!!  I missed my last appt, and I am waiting for my next one.  So I have yet to know how much I have truely lost.  However, I am so excited tonight.
I still order clothes out of a catalog.  But my girl, Bekah, has been riding my butt on getting some new clothes.  I think it was a comfort thing to hold onto the old.  Anyway, when I started in January of 2007, I was busting into a size 7x pants and I could have really worn a size 6x shirt.  I just got my new clothes yesterday.  Size 3x in the pants and the shirts.  The shirts are a little big, but my oh my I love those pants.
I'm wearing denim!  It may have elastic, and is zipper-less.  But I don't care. Granny panties, bring them on!  I was once too big to wear them.  Now I wear them with pride.

Kim, this was such an awesome thread to get started.  Thanks so much...I've loved reading everyone's replies so far and look forward to many more!

I am pre-op.  On day 4 of my 10-day liquid "plan."  (Shelia tells me to quit calling it a "diet!"  hehe)  I've lost 6.4 pounds so far.  Been battling a monster headache since the morning of day 2 but I just took hydrocodone this morning, so I hope I'll be better for the surgical gala tonight.  The hunger isn't causing me any trouble whatsoever, just the headache!  I am supposed to be at Frye Regional Medical at 5:30 a.m. on Friday, November 21st for my RNY.  So far I'm calm as a cucumber about everything to come and I really appreciate all of you, my friends, helping to keep me occupied as I wait!

****ep thinking back on Iris and how fun it was to see her sooo excited in the days leading up to her surgery...I feel like I am walking in her footsteps this week!)

I am 13 months post op, and I have lost 92 pounds with my band.  I'd like to loese another 8 pounds, but if it doesn't happen, I am very happy with this weight.  My exercising has slowed down, and when I get motivated again, I know the last of the weight will come off.

My DH has done all of his tests and is STILL waiting for the surgeon's office to call with his 'decision' appt time.  My DH wants the band, too.  He started his 6 mo doc supervised diet and all his tests in Feb 2008!  He is ready!

Neat thread!

I'm just over 8 months post op and have lost 118 pounds.  My heaviest was 320 and I am now 202.  I have 2 pounds to go to get to my personal goal of 200.  My diabetes is resolved, my hypertension is under control without medicine, and I haven't had an acid reflux/GERD incident in about 6 months.  Excercise was foreign to be prior to surgery, now I can jog/run and I also do resistance training 3 days a week.  I have had no complications.

No regrets,

Jason

I'm five and a half weeks post op and in a three week stall. I'm so disgusted with my scale that I banished it to the closet. I'm in a bad mood except when Shauna makes me laugh so hard I almost wet my pants. (another topic)
Health wise I am doing very well with vitamins, protein and water.  I'm down three sizes without weight loss. How is that even possible?

Thanks for this topic......

Hi Kim,
I see you have gotten lots of responces.
It looks like most are very favorable too.
I am over a year out and and my highest starting weight in my life was 680lbs.
I lost 300lbs on my own 4 years before thinking about RNY.
For now I do not focas too much on pounds lost as I do on how I feel and the size clothes I am in.
I have a large amount of extra skin and will be having most or all removed this new year.
To me my RNY saved my life and I have never felt so good before.
The one bit of advice I give people looking into wls is dont have surgery and think that is it.
It is hard work and you most devote your life to it and be willing to except eatting may never be the same.
I have learned that accountabilty is something that is very important to me.
I am always recording my intake and fitness daily.
Personally I feel along with wls exersise is very very important.
At one time in my life I wore a size 54 now I am wearing 18's and soon to be in 16.
With wls God gave me a second chance and I am determined not to let him down or myself.

It is never too late to be what you might have been.?

I am 7 - 8 weeks out from my surgery and feel pretty good. I weighed 253 on my homw scale but 259 on the hospital scale when I went in for surgery. Today I weighed at 225.5 on my home scale. I have lost inches between the day before surgery and 1 month out and will be measuring again in about a week and putting it on my spreadsheet. I can now wear size 18W jeans comfortably and they are getting loose already. But I can't quite zip up a pair of size 16 yet so will try again next week. My shoe width has significantly shrunk as well from a 4E width (New Balance) to a D width (New Balance) so that was a real shocker. I take no diabetes or acid reflux meds any longer and so far I still have my hair but I undrerstand some of it my start falling out soon. I wish I had done this several years ago but my head wasn't in the right place then.

Great post Kim. It's so encouraging to read the post ops and how they are glad they had the surgery.
I'm pre op. Have completed all appts  now and waiting for everything to be sent to BCBS for approval. It will probably be January for my VSG surgery.
