Hypoglycemic episodes. Fun! (Not!)
This morning the symptoms continued...clammy sweat, trembling, weakness, lingering headache, feeling like I was going to pass out if I did anything. We had plans to go into Asheville so our son could buy his first laptop and I wanted to go get the pedicure done that hubby had given me. Could just see myself passing out cold in the middle of Best Buy!
I had the weight loss program's nurse paged. We'd spoken at the gala last night about my symptoms and again he said it sure sounded like a hypoglycemic episode. He advised me to go ahead and drink some juice, but I know from experience that just spikes and plummets me. I asked him if I could use Shelia's suggestion and eat a bit of peanut butter. He said that would be perfect. Within MOMENTS of eating a tablespoon of peanut butter, I was sooo much better!
We did go on into Asheville and I ended up with both a pedicure and a manicure...clear polish for the upcoming surgery. The massages felt sooo good. Had to come right home and lay back down, then fell back into a deep sleep. I feel like I've been hit by a truck, but no headache or any of the other symptoms right now...yay!
Thanks a million for the PM's and emails. Hope you are all having a good weekend. {{{Big Hugs!!!}}}

Yes, Cody did get his laptop. He saved up his own money for the past couple of months and paid cash for everything today...the computer, virus software, etc...so he's happy as a lark!

Hey I go Monday for my first endgronogist(SP) diabitis appointment. What a wonderful side effect this is espically if you get muddle brained and forget full and you work behind a teller line. I won't even go there. This has been a real problem. Peanut butter is good as along with small meals but who can do that all the time. I do carry gluocose tablets for specially, LOL events since I won't carry peanut butter to the mall and they work much faster. I have felt like crud for a long time now and I experiance all the symptoms along with numbing in my hands and the sides of my face right before I get dizzy. I will let you know what this doctor tells me.
Beginning weight: 284

I will be anxious to hear what you find out and am so sorry you are having to deal with this. I have long wondered if I wasn't hypoglycemic. I also have the numbing and tingling in my hands and face at times during an episode. I had recently chalked it up to my panic attacks coming back to haunt me (hadn't dealt with those for 5-6 years) because I had my blood tested during what I thought was a hypoglycemic episode and it was fine. Weird. I then assumed that what was happening was that when an episode would start, it would take me a little bit to get some food and then to eat it, then by the time I was feeling better, perhaps it was a panic attack that was subsiding...not the food kicking in for hypoglycemia.
Well, these recent events have started since I started the 10-day liquid pre-op diet on Tuesday. I have had the hardest time! Since the peanut butter made things better, I'm assuming these are indeed hypoglycemic episodes I've been having all along. I'm just so thankful to have an answer and am now worried about having a lot of trouble with this post-op. I've read up on it a lot prior and have been prepared for it in case my previous suspicion was correct. I also filled my hubby in on the possibility today of it being a problem post-op. Guess I'll just have to deal with it when and if that happens.
Hope you get some good resolution for yourself. Please let us know what you find out!

(((((Hugss)))) Shauna, I have thought about you all day and wondered how you were feeling. I'm so sorry that you are having to go through all of this. Hopefully after the surgery it won't be as bad, because you won't be as hungry? I hope not anyway! If so, I`m terrified.. lol
Hope it's all 100% better soon!
Cindy

Cindy, Thanks so much for your thoughts. Don't be terrified! If it weren't for the blood sugar stuff, I'd be fine! Honestly, I've not had any trouble with hunger other than just a couple of times of feeling mild hunger pangs, but they were no trouble at all controlling with what I'm allowed. Last night the gala had the most beautiful presentation of delicious food and desserts. I sat sipping my SF punch while everyone enjoyed eating and it was seriously no trouble at all. I'm just looking forward to having a safe surgery and I'll enjoy all those foods at next year's gala! Tonight I feel more clear-headed, rested, and the blood returning to my cheeks. lol Hopefully it will be a breeze from here! {{{Hugs}}} back at ya!
