My DH, Ben has his RNY yesterday and the Bariatric Coordinator came in a little while ago to give us the great news that his diabetes has resolved. He needs to continue to monitor his blood glucose for the next 3 weeks until he meets with his surgeon, but I can't tell you how incredibly delighted I am that his diabetes is resolving. This is one of the main reasons he had the surgery. We hope and expect to have blood pressure, sleep apnea and others issues resolve as well.

Barb,
So happy to hear the news.  I too had the surgery for the diabetes issuses.  My diabetes is in remission (no meds since surgery), my blood pressure was resloved, my cpap machine is gone and my cholesterol issues are resolved (too low as a matter of fact).  Another by product, back and knee pain greatly decreased!!!  I still check my blood sugar levels now and then if I feel strange or out of whack (dizzy or have a headache) - just making sure they are in check.

This surgery was a miracle worker for me.  I know it will be the same for Ben.

Yep! I told Ben I thought that resolution of the diabetes alone would be worth it and that getting smaller and all of the quality of life improvements that come with that are just wonderful 'gravy.'

Barbara,  I'm so glad that Ben has come through with flying colors and already life is taking a turn for the better.  You both have been in my thoughts.  Hope everything continues to go well for Ben as he recovers and he begins his new life!  {{{Hugs}}} to you both!
