OT: It's official... The other shoe dropped

We got the official word from Ben's work letting him know that it wasn't a clerical error, he is indeed being laid off. Basically, he'll go in to the office after his medical leave is over to sign some paperwork. They are being generous and giving him a weeks severence, so I guess that will cover the one week waiting period necessary before unemployment kicks in.

Hopefully, things will be better in the new year ... One thing is for sure, Ben will be slimmer as he interviews for new positions. He's already down almost 25 lbs! I'm so sorry that this happened, but grateful that he was able to have his surgery first.

If anyone knows of a position for a hardworking, competent technical writer, let us know.

Barbara,

I'm so sorry to hear about Ben getting laid off. I don't know of any openings, but maybe he could do some consulting while looking for a permanent position. I wish you both the best and I am so glad that he was able to get through surgery before this happened. He will look fabulous for his interviews. You'll be in my prayers and please tell Ben that I wish him the best.

Barbara weather the stress cause it always comes around when you have to start all over again at something. Ben will find the place he needs to be in and things should return to some form of normalcy. Personally I think they picked a really bad time to do this sort of thing but that is how management sees layoffs. With all the good positive things Ben is dealing with im sure it will spill over into the interview room on his next appointment. I have a feeling that the times will be a changing in the next few months and the economy will become more in check and companies will again need to hire more people to keep things going. I will be thinking about you guys and keep us posted on the progress.

Thanks Push... I am hoping that it all works out soon. Once he's back in the saddle, we have plenty of 'projects' to keep him busy between job searches. But, I know that Ben will be looking forward to finding a new position... He's happiest when he's working.

THank again,

Hi Jennifer,

Thanks for the well wishes. I'll be sure to pass them on to Ben and I know that he'll appreciate them. I agree that he'll be slimmer and trimmer as he looks for his new job... Hopefully, we'll have to scour the local GWs for some great new interview outfits soon.

Congratulations on your success!

Barbara, I am sorry to hear that you found this out now.  I hope he either finds a new job quickly or things get better with the economy so they can call him back asap.

Thanks for the well wishes... I doubt that they'll call him or the other 130 people that the let go back, but hopefully he and they will find new positions soon.
