Well I got back late yesterday which turned into a pretty long hike. I did post up a few pictures and some other photos since I cleaned up the man cave a bit this afternoon. Thats my little home away from home so my wife can have her sanity with all my projects that seem to spread around like butter on a piece of toast. My buddy Larry and his wife met us up for lunch and suggested we take off tomorrow after it finishes either raining or snowing which ever it is and hike the Apalachian Trail from Wayah Bald down in Graham County to Wesser shelter then down the mountain about another three miles on the old AT to wesser creek trail head. My sweet wife just smiles and says she may go to Kentucky anyway to its all good. Im just a tad sore and did not loose a dang pound but I got a feeling that the next two day jaunt will do the trick.. Ill get back on here in a couple of days and thaw out some and post more.. Yall have fun and I will too..

Ahh Push you are playing my song I would love the chance to hike the Apalachin trail.
Will have to talk to hubby about maybe doing this is the spring .
How long is it and where do you start at?
Sounds like a new goal for me to accomplish.

 Annie,

The AT starts over in Georgia at Springer mountain and ends up at Katadin Maine. It is about 2175 miles long. However it is one of the most beautiful places to just do a day trip or overnight it. While I was out I met a guy from Mississippi over on Kephart Prong that was right at Five hundred when he had his RNY and he had been hiking with some friends for several days at the Great Smokey Mountain Nat Park. The AT covers about 80 miles through the GSMP. We are going to just hike a small section but honestly train yourself up and come take a nice hike up there with Lee. If yall like I would not mind a bit being your guide. But you will have to give me some broom riding lessons in return lol.. All I can say for training is include as many hills where you walk and just keep one foot in front of the other one and you should do fine.

Hi Push,
I think it was great if you were our guide.
I will stay in touch and as spring gets closer it would be a great way to celebrate my 50th birthday. Actually I was thinking about maybe going to Disney but since I am a nature girl at heart this sounds better and probally cheaper.

Hey Push.....love your pics and it is obvious you love nature and music.   I am so glad you shared with us!  I have a coworker that walked the entire AT when she was in her 40s and hubby was in his 50s and she said that was the best time of her entire life and an experience that was second to none.   Keep up that hiking and all of your wt will drop off in no time.

I have a few things in commitments that I have going on for the next short period of time but when they are laid by complete I plan on doing the whole trail. It has been an ambition of mine since I first read about it when I was 18. This was when few people knew or even cared about the AT. I think I will get a great deal out of it as well when I do get to go. As for music I enjoy a wide spectrum of music from modern stuff to old barn dance tunes. Living up here in the mountains is pays well to know some old time tunes and have them for contra dances and that sort of thing. Well the weather laid us inside today. We had a pretty good snow fall this morning and it wont melt fast enough. Larry and I will just have to delay a day and see what happens. I was all packed up and ready to go to.. dangit.

I can't wait until Spring to get out more as i love working in the yard and just being outside.   I saw on the noon news where Hickory even had an ice storm and tons of accidents on bridges.   I am glad it didn't get down to Mecklenburg county.   I took today off to get a 4 day weekend and have been spending part of the day taking down Christmas decorations.   Good luck on your hike..hopefully the weather will clear up tomorrow and you can head out.

Take care,

Pam
