Doc Moran info? and a few updates

1) I am having ulcer issues again.  After an acute attack (I considered calling 911.. and considering I've had a compound fracture of the arm (complete with bones protruding) and didn't call 911 then, imagine how bad this was?) I got in to see my GI doc in Raleigh.  He's doing another scope to see what's going on, but also wants me to meet up with Moran so I have a local surgeon in case I need a lap to see the problem.  Anyone have any info on Dr. Moran, his staff, etc?  I know he's at Rex, but that's all I know about him.

2) Kaitlin does *not* have celiac disease, or diabetes incipidus (sp) (which is not a blood sugar diabetes, but is something completely different).. but she does have several allergies to various foods.  I *was* going to take her in next Tuesday and demand blood tests to figure out what she actually is allergic to (milk and soy for one, and perhaps a number of other things) but alas my scope got scheduled for the same day.

3) Anemia really sucks.  After my ferritin dropped 5 points in less than 2 months, they've doubled my iron.  Now rather than kill a small child, I can kill a large pachyderm with the amount I'm taking.  TAKE YOUR VITAMINS, PEOPLE.  DON'T TURN OUT LIKE ME.  FLINTSTONES ARE NOT ENOUGH FOR 95% OF THE RNY  POPULATION!

Enough about me.  Carry on with your normal conversations.

Hello...First of all, sorry for all of the problems you are having.  Just wanted to let you know Dr. Moran was my rny surgeon.  Mind you I just had surgery on the 4th so I haven't been going to him too terribly long, but I have nothing but good things to say of him and his staff...So far everyone has been great and very easy to work with.  Hope this helps a little..

Dr. Moran is my surgeon and I absolutely love him and his office staff!! He has a physician's assistant in his office as well. Sometimes I see Dr. Moran and sometimes I see Katie (the PA). Nurse Janelle is awesome and so is the office manager JoAnn. JoAnn has actually had the surgery a few years ago and is really open about talking about it. They're all really great. They make you feel like you are their only patient and they really know you. His office is across the street from Rex Hospital. I will tell you that Dr. Moran is a man of few words. He's very direct, doesn't give you a lot of "fluff" so to speak, but he's very knowledgable and will answer any questions you have. I can also tell you that I've never had to wait at his office. Usually within the first 3-5 minutes of arriving I'm called back. I live over an hour away and one time I arrived for my appointment about 30-45 minutes early (I hate being late for things) and I was still called back within a couple of minutes. I was actually in and out and on my way home before my actual scheduled time. I've had appts. at various times of the day and it's never been busy. One last thing, they now have evening office hours on Thursdays until 8 pm, which I really like so that I don't have to take time off of work for my appointments. I hope some of this helps.

Hey Andrea:

Sorry to hear you and Kaitlin are going through all this.   They also thought my 19 yr old had celiac but have finally concluded a lactose intolerance so now he is on lactaid which seems to help.   Hope every thing turns out all right for both of you.

I have taken your vitamin message very serious and because of that i am off flintstones and rolaids and on 2 centrum silver chewables, b12 and calcium citrate.    Thanks for drilling us on the importance of that as i for one am very grateful!

Love,

Pam
