Revision or Lap Band after RNY
Has anyone had a revision surgery or lap band done after having a gastric bypass (RNY)? I had a gastric bypass in 2002. Within the first year, my surgeon told me that the procedure was a failure. I weighed 392 day of surgery and lost only 98 lbs. I have since gained 70 lbs back. I just beginning to research my options. I am open to all options.
Hi there. While I did not have to have a revision, I'd like to suggest to you the possibility of revision to a DS. Given your weight, I think it would be a good choice. Please come on over to the DS forum and read, read, read, and go over to the revision board as well. You will find a good number of revisions on the DS board, and I'll bet if you post there and ask, you'll get a good number of replies. Also, check out www.duodenalswitch.com and www.dsfacts.com. Both great sites chock full of info. I think if you can commit to taking the vitamins, which you have to take now anyway - or should be, you might very well do quite well with a DS. And since I am living with and loving my own DS (albeit a virgin DS, not a revision), I'd be glad to give you the details of what life is really like. There are a lot of myths out there. PM me if you'd like.
Good Luck in your research. Above all else, please thoroughly research all your options.
