A new way of looking at things...

Some of you may have seen my previous posts re:

What are you doing FOR yourself instead of TO yourself.

Someone recently asked me about that and I told them that this is a relatively new was of looking at things for me as it relates to my choices around food and activity. It has helped me see my glass as half full instead of half empty many times. When I'm thinking in terms of something I want to eat and would otherwise feel 'deprived', when I look at not having something, or having a 'healthier' choice, it is so much easier to do so, when I am choosing that option as doing something 'FOR' myself.

A few of the things I now do FOR myself include:

Going for a walk

Parking in the shade no matter how far away from the store it is

Eating my protein before indulging in carbs

Selecting the grilled over the fried version of whatever I'm choosing to eat

What do you do FOR yourself?

I learn so much from the people on the website.  Yesterday while at the beach, my husband and I were in the water.  He only stayed for about 10 mins saying that there were too many waves. I think it was the because of which beach we were at.   I took it as a chance to have fun while using up lots of energy.  Last year I would have been done with in minutes.  This year I spent at least 45 mins twice in the water getting beat up.  It was exhausting but fun.
I also carry my bags from the store as long as I can lift them.  I no longer use the cart to go to the car.  I use the stairs as much as possible.  I NEVER thought I would do that.  There have been lots of changes.   some are easier than others.
