Planning to make a large doilie

It took me almost a year to finish my afghan. It was a little difficult but challenging. It had sixty something blocks, no two alike. So I was never board. I am a pre-op and I decided to try a doillie pattern using the thread type yarn. This is my first experience with such fine yarn. I wanted to have something to do with my hands and mind after the operation. Don't want to dwell on my pain and food. I just want to recover as soon as possible so that I can return to work. Its a great stress and tension reliever also. Time just seems to fly when I'm crocheting. What projects are you working on? It would be great to ask questions of some of you who have been at this for quite some time should I get stuck on a stitch.

I'm actually trying to finish a pineapple lace afghan before my surgery on June 25. I have some baby things to work on and socks. I also want to work on a shawl in a lovely, soft, Llama yarn...YUM! I'm mostly knitting, though afghans are usually crochet for me. I consider myself a zen knitter (and crocheter) since I enjoy the process more than the finished object. I haven't done much on thread crochet because I just can't see the stitches. I want to try and have some larger thread (#3) and a daylight lamp with magnifying glass.

I'm currently working on two granny-square afghans for my daughter, who is 31 weeks along with identical twins. It was tough finding baby soft yarn in two different but compatible colors. I have two squares left to make for the second one and then I have to sew it together and make the edging. Then my son and his wife just told us she's pregnant again, so I'll need to make one for her, too. It's never ending, but I really enjoy it.

Hi, Mary Ann! I know you posted this quite some time ago, but I'm just getting around to looking at the different message boards on here. I noticed that your surgery was the day after mine, and I was wondering how you're doing? How did your doily come out? I've made several; my favorite are the pineapple doilies. I once made one that was just huge, and it took me well over a month to fini**** Well, it was just beautiful, and I had it on one of my end tables in the living room. It covered the whole thing! Well, apparently something got spilled on it or something, and rather than my husband pointing it out to me so I could fix it, HE THREW IT AWAY! Good Lord, I thought I was gonna faint! I was truly sick at heart about it. It was the one doily that I had made over the years that I had actually kept for myself; all the others I end up giving away. Anyway, I have found that crocheting is a huge help with life as a post-op. It helps me slow down my eating; I eat a bite, then crochet a little (or knit, whichever is on hand) then I take another bite, and crochet.... Anyway, please let me know how the doily turned out. I've been crocheting since I was 9, so for about 24 years now... Let me know if I can help with anything! I love making doilies, baby clothes, afghans, even stuffed animals. I've made adorable bunny rabbits! Take care, Moysa

OOOps, I just noticed that your date was 2 months after mine, not the day after! I think it's about time I go to bed...I'm getting a little loopy! LOL!

I'm currently crocheting a ripple afghan for my first grandchild due in July. I only work on it in the evenings so I hope I get it done on time. I love to crochet.
