I'm not in your area but there is a nice "kit" entitled I taught myself to Knit or crochet. I think it's marketed through Coats & Clark. I've seen them everywhere. Good luck -j-

I recently taught myself to knit via the internet and by watching the DIY network show, "Knitty Gritty." If you don't get that channel, they have video clips and patterns from all the episodes on the DIY site: www.diynet.com/diy/shows_dkng/0,2044,DIY_18180,00.html It's very relaxing once you get through the initial learning curve. And you can actually make some really cool stuff just with the basic stitches. I just started a poncho. It will be my post-op project next month! Good luck and have fun!
