which is easier knitting or crocheting
I just bought the I taught myself to crochet pack from michels arts and craft and i just cant seem to get what they are saying . I had one of my girlfriends start it off for me but i still cant do the chain stitch like it should be. so i was wondering if crocheting was harder than knitting or is knitting harder or are they about the same .
Hi Tyshea....it's really a matter of personal preference.....I do both, but I prefer to knit most things. Clothing pieces and blankets I prefer to knit, I think the array of stitches and how the end piece looks is much better. But thread crochet is beautiful and that's really what I use crocheting for. As far as easier to learn.....I'd say crochet. Stick with it, knitting and crocheting is very soothing and a great way to use your hands so that you're not eating...LOL. Post a pic of your finished piece so we can all see it. Barbara
Hi Tyshea,
I also amd a crocheter. I have tried to teach myself to knit several times and just cannot get it. the only thing you can do to get the hang of crocheting is to do it over and over again. Start with the chain and work with it until you get it even and loose. You don't want it to tight as this is your foundation row and you need to be able to get the hook through each chain.
Next work a back and forth row of single crochet. Work this over and over again with the same stitch until you feel you are comfortable with it. Then move and to the double crochet and do the same thing. Before you know it you will be working patterns with single and double crochet in it without any problem.
I do alot of volunteer crocheting for charity and I have a bunch of patterns that are very simple using just the three stitches. I would be happy to share them.
Good Luck
