PTT Bleeding time
i was scheduled for surgery next week, and my bleeding time the PTT test has come back elevated.
this means my blood is not clotting as fast as it should
i was wondering, has anyone encountered a problem with this after RNY?  is it related to the change in diet or absorption??
if anyone has any thoughts, would be appreciated.
thanks, jacki
Jacki~ Sorry about your test coming back with results that are not good for you. I don't know anything about the blood clotting after WLS, but did they test us for that BEFORE WLS? I don't think I was. It scares me sometimes about the tests that I was not required to have before my surgery......
I am sure you will get lots of qualified answers on here about the clotting though. Keep us posted on the surgery. Michelle

 thanks for the responses.
im having a hysterectomy roberta, which will now be delayed
but i did some reseach since i posted earlier and im fairly certain that malabsorption is going to be the answer, now i have to find out what in particular could cause this.
i have an appt. with a hematologist in 10 days, grrrrrrrrr i hate the waiting
hugs everyone, jacki
Jackie ~~  are you taking any medications, or vitamins... in particular.... omega 3....  I am taking omega 3 (fish oil)  which does increase your bleeding time (PT PTT)   I had to stop taking them prior to surgery in the past.    I am scheduled for lap band on 7/6/07.....so far I did not stop taking the fish oil  since the surgeon did not request that.   I just had my PT PTT done for PAT today.   I'm curious to see my results.   Just a thought... hope this helps....
