I am so excited about doing some races this summer, I am doing them for me! I have even been making my daughter run on the weekends... it is funny to hear her complain about running a mile, she is a kid for goodness sake, she is only 5 so I know it is far but it is good for her to start out with a healthy habits. I am going to do the Rock and Roll 1/2 Marathon and the Avon Walk this year so I have so much to train for.. I sometimes feel like that is my new addiction, but it is a healthy one ???
As always, thank you Tom for your words of encouragement, you are great!

Stella,
I am right behind you – somewhat. I am close to my original ULTIMATE goal (about 5 pounds away), but I have at least one or two more weight goals. One would put me at exactly half the weight I began this journey on (around 8 pounds away), and then second is about a few pounds lower then that – which will give me about 10 pounds to “play" with.
As for being terrified about gaining weight, I have that fear too. That’s why I am going a little below my ultimate goal. I know I will need that wiggle room. During the entire journey I’ve had this feared, and it’s kept me focused. I hope I never lose that fear.
All I know is that there will be good days, and not so good days. That’s how life is. I need to constantly remember where I came from, and how I feel today.
CONGRATS on the Triathlon training. I am very impressed. If you can do the mini-triathlon then focus on doing a regular triathlon. That’s what I am doing with my running. My ultimate goal is to run a marathon. But like weight los****ting the ultimate goal isn’t what’s important. Just having the goal, and working towards it IS. And if it take you YEARS to obtain it, who cares. Like that tortoise, Slow and steady wins the race.
As for getting skin removed, and having the GUYS replaced, I may look into that myself (when I am stable for at least a year).
My friend, you've always been an inspiration. I can't tell you how proud I am of you, and your success!!

The first bit of advice I give is: Welcome to the Weight Loss Rollercoaster. Know there will be some highs and some lows, but in the end it all works out. So relax, and enjoy the ride.
Second, we should not go into these procedures thinking about losing weight, but getting healthier!! THAT SHOULD BE THE GOAL!!
The reason some folks get disappointed with bariatric surgery is because they are numbers obsessed. They don’t embrace that living a healthier life is more important than the numbers. There are other “scales" you can use to monitor success: better medical exam results (lower cholesterol and/or blood pressure); constant hunger reduction (eliminated); reduced clothing size; increase energy; re-familiarizing yourself to body-parts unseen for years (errr… toes) ; “common" activity becoming easier (walking, climbing steps), just feeling good about yourself; sleeping better (reduced snoring); the mirror; etc.
So new idea, instead of being concerned about “numbers", make your goal to be healthy (getting off all meds, being able to run, being able to swim, dancing, etc). Only you can decide what that goal should be.
Finally understand there are rules you will need to follow to be successful. This is only a tool, not a cure all. So don’t expect the procedure to make you successful. It will help you, but you need to work at it. It’s like a marriage.
