Topic: Surgery scheduled for Thurs 8/18
Hi Everyone,
I have just discovered this site and there seems to be lots of helpful and supportive people out there. I am lucky enough to have a great support group: my partner had the bypass 3 years ago and my mom had the sleeve done last year. After today I will start my 2 days of clear liquid diet! I cant believe that my date is already here! Any last minute suggestions for what to take to the hospital, hints for clear liquid diet, pureed diet, etc? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Wish me luck!
Thanks!
Stacy

Topic: Few bumps in the road...
About 10 days after I had my revision from band to bypass, I was taken to the hospital after vomitting blood and then passing out, was scary for my family members who found me. I was having some internal bleeding...they gave me 4 units of blood and did an upper scope within 24 hours, that showed a small area that needed to be corterized, which they did and I went home. Feeling great and ready to tackle the world, but 2 days later I was releasing blood from the butt.....so another unit of blood and an upper scope and colonoscopey....let me tell you that stuff you have to drink is God awful!!!
They didn't find anything this time...could be from my old stomach but since the bleeding stopped we just have to "wait and see" or hope its run its course.
Well I'm home for 4 days now, eating soft foods and feeling good, very tired but I'm getting there. Everything seems to be doing well, no blood and hopefully on the mend.
People have asked me if I would do it all again...my answer....HELL YES!!!!!! I love not feeling bloated and already my knees are pain free....I had lost 18lbs after my 1 week visit....I go back to my doc on Thursday so hopefully the scale has moved downward!!!!
Just wanted to share my experience and while it was a bit scary....I still believe this was the best decision I made!!!

Topic: ? re: Dr. JB's Old Muhlenberg Support Group
I know the new group meets out of JFK, since JB is no longer in the area (?). Anyway, at a few of the meetings while at Muhlenberg, a hematologist attended....an Indian dr. who spoke both times about iron infusion therapy. Does anyone remember this doctor's name and where he practices? Thanks.

Topic: Brick area?
I have half containers of syntrax nectar twisted cherry and carribean cooler. Can you use them? I hate to throw them away if someone else would like them. I just can't stomach it anymore. Funny how everyone's tastes are so different! I don't have any pets and they are very new containers. I only used maybe 5 to 10 scoops from each. I'll drop them or you can pick them up.
Oooh...also a container of unflavored Jay Robb egg white protein powder that I used pre-op -4 months ago that I no longer want.
