Topic: RE: Nursing Student
I am also new to obesity help. I live in Northern Michigan. Kudos to all of you! I graduated as an RN in 2004. I am now teaching the Mental Health Nursing Clinical Rotation at the local community college. I also work the midnight shift on the Mental Health Unit at our regional hospital. Try to remeber in the thick of your programs that you have to jump through the series of flaming hoops, and once you're done, you'll be a nurse too. What a wonderful profession you are about to become a part of. Welcome!

The support group I go to explained it this way. The entrance and exit of your pouch are like a toilet bowl. When you add water you flu**** and some of the nutrients that could have been absorbed are not. Not only that when you add water you are slowly expanding your pouch. "Believe me this pouch is staying small." LOL

Ellen,
they have a program like this in iowa. i wish that i would've gone that route instead of starting all over at the community college. I know a lady that is in it. it is advanced and fast paced by she likes it. It seems like a good program to me. i say go for it! donna
Topic: Also thinking of Nursing
New to OH and hopefully someday new to nursing as well.
I'll be graduating with my BS this coming January (finally!). Now that I have come this far to get a degree in education, my head (and heart) are telling me to get into nursing.
I found a program at UNH that seems to be made for me. It is an accelerated Master's for people with a BS/BA. It is 96 credits in two and a half years.
Has anyone ever done a program like this? If so, how would you rate it?
TIA,
Ellen
Topic: RE: need finical aid any tips where to go
Hi All,
I am new to this board. Here is the link to FASFA:
http://studentaid.ed.gov/PORTALSWebApp/students/english/index.jsp
and if you go to the school website that you are thinking of applying to, they should have more resources for you to use. But be aware that you MAY have to take out a few student loans, that you must repay. Some of these nursing schools are pricey. I am attending Mercy College in Des Moines, Iowa and with Financial aid, and student loans, I am still paying $2,000 in out of pocket expenses. So chose you school wisely.

Topic: Hi.....New to this board and I want to know......
Hi All,
My name is Nissah and I am new to this board. I have always seen it, but was not sure about joining. So here I am. I am soon to be
32 y/o in 5 days, and I am starting my clinicals in nursing school on Sept.6th.
One problem, I might get to have surgery on 8/30, which will give me only 1 week recovery time before I start class. I had scheduled my date for 12/19 which is the monday after the last day of class and I will return to school on 1/10/06 and I feel this time frame will give me the recovery period that I need.
Have any of you had WLS and then started school this soon after. Is this a good idea?
I was told by my surgeon, that it was fine to have surgery in Dec.,
but I may have to do some things over again, like getting approval again, because approvals usually are valid only for 60 days, but he will ask. My surgeon also wanted me to have WLS by the end of Oct. and take a few days off, but I am scared, since the clinicals are the most important thing about nursing classes.
Has anyone else run into or had this problem with school. I am really leaning on the side of waiting until Dec to have surgery.
What do you think?
