Thanks for the reply M
A and P was pretty tough, and I personally cannot imagine doing that WITH kids too! Sending good vibes your way for being able to fit in study time (grin)

Topic: RE: School..
Hi Meagan,
Yes, I did have a difficult time. I barely passed with a C. I think the teacher felt sorry for me. I won't be that lucky this time. I am going to a different school with a different teacher.
BTW I took A & P the first time in 1993. Maybe I can still remember what the Kreb's cycle is and that sodium-potassium gate thingee is.
Best of luck and keep us posted!

Hi Kia,
I know what you mean about "just found this board!" Because this happened to me as well.
It is so funny that after reading your post, I am in the same boat as you. Well sort of, I will be taking A & P this fall. Though I have not been accepted into the nursing program of my choice yet, I am allowed to take the prerequisites for that program. The program I chose is an ADN as well. I also plan on pursuing a BSN as soon as possible after the ADN portion.
I am still pre-op but have a date for the surgery: July 12, 2005.
I am 39, married with 2 children and 3 pets: 2 rats and a dog.
Looking forward to "seeing" you again.

Topic: Just found this!
Hello folks
After a good year or so on the message boards I *just* found this board! I am a 35 year old married lady with no children unless you count the 9 pets we have
I am starting nursing classes this fall with my eventual goal to get a BSN in nursing after getting my associates. Just wanted to pop on and introduce myself

Topic: RE: HOW TO DO IT WITH CHILDREN
Well, I have just started on my pre-nursing classes and I have two children at home, 9 and 3. I also have one angel baby who passed at 18 days. Part of me going into nursing comes from my experience with Tristan. I have always done Nursing work...aide. Anywho...it would be easier with my oldest in school but he got out the friday before I started!! My younger son goes to the day care at our church. He really enjoys it and we qualify for assistance which will help when we actually begin to get it. I am only taking 2 classes right now, and Im not sure how its gonna go come fall with a full schedule. You have a degree already so you probably wont have to take a lot of the pre- requisites! Good luck to you, let me know what you decide. I know it will be hard work, but well worth it! Roxanne

Topic: HOW TO DO IT WITH CHILDREN
NEED HELP/ADVISE, WHAT EVER U CAN OFFER. I WOULD LIKE TO START NURSING SCHOOL BUT HAVE NO CLUE WHAT TO DO WITH KIDS...NOT MUCH SUPPORT ...HUBBY WORKS 13 HOURS A DAY AND IM HOME WITH THE KIDS..I HAVE A PREVIOUS DEGREE IN HUMAN SERVICE. HAS ANYONE DONE IT WITH YOUNG CHILDREN WOULD APPRECIATE ANY ADVISE.
FEELING THE NURSING BUG.
Topic: RE: wanting to go back to work
They WILL hire you as long as you are licensed... Just tell the recruiter that you will need a good orientation to "renew" your skills. It's like the proverbial bicycle... the only thing you might take some time to brush up on is pharmacology, and you can buy the textbooks and review that on your own
... the rest will fall right into place
Good Luck!!
Topic: RE: New to the Nursing board!
Welcome.
I would like to see this board a little busier wouldnt you? Most nurses I know have a lot to say about everything and anything!!

Thanks Bonnie. I know that there is a lot of jobs out there. I guess I am just not very confident but you are right.....it is common sense and as long as I follow the patients rights, look up the new meds and ask questions when I don't know something I should do okay. Thanks for the input! Nancy
Topic: RE: RN Salaries?
I live in Phoenix and salaries are kind of low here. There are no unions (this makes a big difference), so I know they start out at around $22/hr. Having said that, with all the population growth, I have been working as a traveler for 3 years in the same hospital and make $36/hr, plus $3000 every 13 weeks as a 'completion bonus'. I couldn't afford to go core staff, although I don't get PTO or 401K, but the extra more than makes up for that.
Hope this helps. I Love sunny AZ!!!
