Please Advise Ways/How to prepare
I have a flood of urgent and intense family things to do until 4 days before my surgery.
How can I prepare myself best for surgery? Not groceries but, 'being fully present for myself'
Ill have the luxury then of being at home alone with my husband.
I will go to therapeautic pool the weekdays, because that eases my back pain and even the "exercises" relax me. 92 degree water!
Some quiet time for personal thoughts. My husband will play music for me and if the weather is good I will garden some.
What else do you suggest? Action? reflections? Planning?
What worked or didn't work for you?

Sue ,
One thing I would do is check with the surgeon about being in the pool. I remember being told that I could take a shower but no baths or swimming for a while until the drains were out and the incisions had time to close up.
Definitely write things down - it's very therapeutic and helps with tracking fluids and protein intake.
I was only out of work for three weeks but most of the first week was resting and walking and sipping...and crushing the calcium and other meds.
You will do just fine by taking recovery one day at a time as each day it gets easier to move about.

Hey Sue,
what I did was the night before I offered up to God a ritual. I went into my garden and dug a small hole. Into it I threw in all my negative thoughts, feelings and fears. I had a fat picture of myself and I threw that in as well. Lastly, I thanked my old weight for all the protection it had offered me. However, now I can close the door on this 100 pounds and feel free to experience life on life's terms. I closed the hole back with the dirt and offered all my PAST pain to the earth. I then planted a peony seed for the future.
It might sound corny but it was a way for me to move forward into this wonderful new journey. I am three weeks post op (banded) and loving every moment.
Hugs Susan
