Hello everyone, I feel like I'm slipping and need help. Does anyone know of any support groups in Nassau and Suffolk county? Or, can you recommend a good therapist that understands WLS? Thanks. Pearl

Have you tried the support group at Good Samaritan? Did you have your surgery there? They meet every other Saturday morning at 9:00. Good luck to you, Marcia

I did have my surgery at Good Sam with Dr Adaniel. I do attend the support group meetings at Good Sam but feel I do need more support. I'm 11 months post op. Thanks.

I was recently researching this myself, although I am in Brooklyn and looking to not travel in rush hour. There is a meeting on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at North Shore Manhassett. I found other meetings by searching for the local hospitals and checking out their websites. I haven't gone to one yet, though I picked my therapist because a friend recommended him and I'm not finding it to be a problem that he doesn't really have a lot of experience with WLS patients, I am learning so much about myself and how I deal with life by going to him weekly. I DO feel like I would love the live support of a WLS group, so I'm with you there, but if you are looking for therapy, I'd recommend just looking for a GOOD one that you connect with. xosm
