Hi everyone! Let me preface this by saying that I have had regular periods since the day when I first got mine at 12 (I'm going to be 28 next week!). I did not get my period last month and there are no signs of me getting it this month. Has this happened to anyone else after a lot of weight loss? I am down about 125 pounds since September 21st. Just looking for some input. I guess I should call my gyno for a check-up. Thanks! Erin

My period is definitely weird, but I get it every month. It seems to come on really hard for a few days and suddenly disappear. Then a few days later it comes back a bit and is gone again. I'm down 107 lbs since my surgery on Oct. 20 and I'm 40 if that helps at all! Violet

Erin: It is good to get a checkup, BUT what I can tell you is this: The HUGE changes we undergo as we lose wt DOES effect our hormonal balance, which can throw MENSES all 'outtawack' !!! First the trauma of surgery many have irregular cycles in the beginning, then as we lose wt, the estrogen that is stored in our fat cells, begins to be brokendown, released into the blood stream, this hormonal surge is like a BAD case of PMS! Many women have WLS to get FERTILE! As when obese we have larger risk of being infertile...I can say my period was never normal and so once on BCP's it was better, but after WLS BCP's can not be trusted for contraception (malabsorbtion and risk w/. vomiting as well as huge risk of fertility postop!), so I went off so mine went wackko! Ihave an IUD now (MIRENA IUD) and hardly ever do more than spot a few times a yr (Saveson products!). Best to get it checked out but may be VERY bormal under the cir****tances (8 mo and down 125#!) Congrats on your success! Be well! Erin, I am with Lisa, my periods were always irregular. Then when I went off the pill about 3 years ago I have been SOOOO regular ever since and even through this weight loss it stays right on track.....Weird for me I even got my period the day after my WLS but the next month I skipped. Nothing seems to throw it off now... The best thing is to have your gyno check you out anyways, it is always good to stay on top of these things.. I wish you all the best hun and CONGRATS on the 125 lb loss....WOW that is just awesome You should be SOOO proud of yourself. Take care and keep us posted! Debra P

Hi Erin, how are you? Have not seen you around here in awhile. My period has been quite irregular. SOmetimes, I don't get it for a couple of months, then I get it every couple of weeks. PMS is tough for me, too. I guess it is all part of the package with weight loss. Glad to see you here. S
