Seeking Snack Suggestions?
Hi all, this weekend I will be with my 15 year old son Anthony at a baseball tournament in North Branford CT for the weekend and I trying to come up with some healthy snacks for the motel room and the games as well. I don't want to get caught in the fast food trap for 3 days!
Any suggestions will be helpful!
Thanks Everyone!!!!!!!!!!!
Kenny
Hey Kenny!
Still like those soy crisps? We discovered this odd protein filled chip from Trader Joe's..it has curry in it. I only ate 1, but without the band, it could be a red light food for me. We only go to TJ's once a month on the way home from the band checkups. Hubby says the chips are filling. If you are taking I-84, Trader Joe's is right off it, just over the state border(if you do go, pick up a box of the tomato and roasted red pepper soup, it's great!). I heard pine nuts are really satisfying, but the calorie count looked way too high for me. I've never had them. I was snacking on raisins before my fill. I don't think I can tolerate them now.
Are you bringing a cooler? We had an electric one that my friend lent us and was going to sell to us, but I decided to give it back to him, and buy another sometime. I want one that heats and refrigerates. It helped me a great deal on our road trip to Disney since I was watching what I eat. We could bring it into the motel and plug it into the wall. If you do bring a cooler, string cheese, laughing cow light cheese are good.
I had the boys out two weeks ago shopping, and they are McD's freaks. I, like you wanted to avoid the fast food trap. I'd usually get a salad but got a fajita, and a fruit and yogurt parfait. Wendy's chili is good too. I'm just throwing out ideas from what I remember from weigh****chers-lol, in case you end up having to go into a fast food place. I wish I can think of more snack ideas for you. I'm not much of a snacker anymore. Hope you have a great trip!

Kenny,
Some ideas might be:
Take a cooler, if not wanting to deal with the ice then they make the electric ones that also have an adaptor or the car. Bring with you some goodies like:
Carb Control yogurt
String cheese
fresh fruits
Soy Chips
Soy Nuts or any nuts for that matter
Cut and cleaned veggies (celery and carrots)
Cottage Cheese
For meals you can get low sodium turkey breasts and cheese, roll them up to eat
Also if it is fast food you can get salads or grilled stuff without sauce, pick off of bun
Well that is just some ideas hun and I hope some might be helpful. I know that planning this is not easy but planning is what we have to do most of the time now..
Making it hard but we are worth the effort!
Have fun and good luck!

You don't have to thank me for replying!
Well duh I read too fast and didnt see that detail. Well you can always pre-mix it and eat it cold from the cooler. It is just as yummy cold as hot! I just have a limited things I can eat hot(besides soup) so I like it heated up!
Good luck!

Kenny,
My favorite snack lately has been string cheese or nuts. I swear to God I count out the stinkin' nuts, so that it's only one serving. (which is one ounce-25 whole nuts) But I like it better that way because I don't graze! I found these great nuts, Planter's Nut-Trition, and it has 6 or 8 grams of protein per serving and very low sodium and fat and stuff. I also enjoy soy crisps and fruit. Good luck with going outta town!
