Hi. I had Aetna after being approved for surgery by BC/BS because my hubby retired. Aetna made me go through a 6 month nutrition and exercise program before approving my surgery. A lot of the problems were caused by my husband's company policies. I found out after my surgery that Aetna SHOULD have approved me when they received the approval letter from Blue Cross/Blue Shield.
I do know Aetna's policy says you must have participated in a doctor supervised nutrition and exercise program for 6 months prior to surgery date. Basically, you need to see your primary doctor once a month, be weighed, discuss diet and exercise, which the doctor must document for each appointment. After the 6 months, have him/her submit the info to Aetna.
