Plateau...
Hi guys,
FYI, I changed my username to just reflect my last initial. Amy Cassotta is now Amy C.!
In other news, I very quickly lost 20 pounds after surgery and have been plateaued for close to two weeks. While my total weight loss (including a 30 lb pre op weight loss) is 50 pounds (and I realize that's nothing to sneeze at!), I'm frustrated. I do understand these plateaus are the body's way of managing radical changes, but I'm ready for more and my body isn't and that's frustrating. I've been walking 30 minutes most days, and getting about 48-64 oz of fluid in daily.....I'd love to just break through 250(I'm 251.5 now)!
Just venting....
Hugs,
Amy
AMY~Darling!
As your dearest angel, I have to say I am coming over to your house to run off with your scale! (giggles). I know you intellectually understand plateaus, I also know emotionally we are greatly challenged by them! (will I be the only one wls doesn't work for, I am doing all that is asked and nothing, how can I not lose eating so little...etc) I said them and I bet almost every WLS pts has said them! I am sendign you huge hugs of support, understanding for where you're at, and will gladly steal your scale as well if needed/indicated!
Ya know I used to wake up 5# lighter no rhyme or reason, it is definately a weird thing this journey! But again a reframe...Your doing what it will take to be healhty a d successful long term, that is the goal! Remember the wt loss is a bonus! No racing allowed on this journey ok! HUGS
Jamie

Thank you Jamie. It's good to hear that. No need to steal my scale, but point taken! All those thing you say to yourself I have been saying to myself, so hearing these thoughts are typical of a WLS-er is comforting. Though I agree that the goal is to be healthy, weight loss is siginificant to that goal, so no matter what, the big reward is the change on the scale. HOWEVER, I do have a more definable waist, a less puffy face, ankle bones (not to mention some other bones starting to poke through!) and this all is an indication that weight loss has occured. I gotta keep remembering that!
Hugs and many thanks,
Amy
Hi Sweetie, I plateau constantly, and have done so from the very beginning. My longest plateau was about 6 weeks long!
But the good news is that 7 months later I'm down 110 lbs, so it does keep coming off regardless. Now I ignore those plateaus and just keep the faith that if I'm doing what I'm supposed to be doing, my body won't betray me! This isn't like before when plateaus were the "death" of yet another attempt at weight loss.
HUGS,
Vi

Hi Amy,
My picture changed, I didn't want it to. Oh well-lol. Hopefully the name thing will resolve for you.
I'm on one of mini plateaus. I say mini, because it's been a few days since I've lost weight and I usually lose something sometimes every day, or every other day or less frequent. That's not the norm for a bandster though. 1-2 pounds a week is, and I lose 2.5-4 pounds. So I'm trying not to worry. I know what you mean about breaking through. I'm close to onederland
Happy plateau breaking thoughts!
Kristine

Hey Kristine,
I know patience is key when plateaus occur, but I only had surgery 4 weeks ago and I thought I wouldn't hit a plateau for a while....oh well.
That is so cool that you are close to onederland! How exciting! Makes a plateau pretty frustrating, I bet!
How did your date with your husband go? What did you guys end up doing?
Hugs,
Amy
