How do you take pain meds post-op?

So I'm wondering for you bandsters how you take pain meds after the operation? I assume a decent sized pill won't fit into the stomach opening at that point, or will it, or what happens with that? Thanks :) -Stephanie

hi Stephanie! I let myself heal...trying to remember oh maybe about a month or so, maybe 3 weeks. My surgeon is strict and still(I'm 4 months post op) doesn't want me to swallow pills bigger than m&m's but I became a rebel after I felt like it was time to swallow pills. I do swallow big pills, but I take them at night when we tend to be more open. I might also swallow them with something hot, as the band tends to expand with the heat. I have only had a problem when I took pills in the morning. I now only take my antidepressants and the meds that dissolve in the am. Immediate post op I took tylenol with codeine then liquid tylenol, right up until I was swallowing pills. Kristine
