WLS on back burner for now - Heart Attack
I had a heart attack last Saturday and was in the hospital all week.
I had been suffering for a few days with heartburn. I went to my Dr. and she said I had an acid problem and gave me medication for GERD. I gave the medication a few days to work, but the symptoms just seemed to get worse until it was almost a constant pressure in my chest. The last thing I thought was a heart attack.
Please, everyone, take this as a warning. I didn't have any of the symptoms that I thought were associated with a heart attack. No real pain (just heartburn), no pain radiating down my left shoulder and arm, no weakness, no shortness of breath. As a matter of fact, I walked upstairs, woke up my partner to tell her I was going to the hospital because something was not right.
Little did I know that I had a 100% in one of my arteries.
This isn't supposed to happen to a 42 year old vegetarian woman.
I am so sorry to hear of your heart attack. How frightening. I am glad to hear that your ok. Are you going to have a cardiac cath to clear the blockage? You are absolutely right to advise all of the non specific signs and symptoms of a heart attack, especially in women. I will be sending you healing thoughts. Take good care.
Hugs,
Amy
Dear Purple.....I am so glad that you are ok and that you went to the doctors. I have heard of other women having little to no symtoms at all. A dear friend of mine, aged 49, went for a routine checkup and had 100% calcification in her artery and was rushed into surgery. Thank God that we as women have better medical care and aren't afraid to seek help. May God keep your heart beating another 50 years.
