I'v been having weired pain around my Cut line. Mine was done open so i have a cut from The bottom of my chest to the top of my Belly Bottom. Is it normal to have a feeling of Pins and Needle pain? It hurts but not like the pain i had after surgery. But then i wonder if i mess something up. I'v been back to work for the last 3 weeks and i do a sometimes "HAND ON" job and Monday it got a little "HAND ON" and i had to slam so one to the ground. The Pain started Sunday morning and in 5 days its kind of traveled from my cut line to my side of my belly. That and i still have the pain and neeles pain but its getting my intence. Thx god i stll have more Pain Med. but or course it had to get ****ty on the weekend when i can't get the scrip filled. But thx god i have the weekend off but come monday its 7 days STR8 and i have an intrview for a Promotion. But if anyone else has had this pain hit me up because i goto the Dr. on tuesday and i'm tryin not to freak out before then.

Dwight: I hear your concern, unfortunatley we can not (and shouldn't try to) diagnose your pain, my recommendation is CALL YOUR SURGEON or whoever is on call, TODAY! BETTER TO BE SAFE than sorry. It may be nothing or it may be something, any pain like this needs medical consultation/attention in my book! When I had my surgery (LAP) I was out for 4 wk before my surgeon released me to do my job (at that time I was a psych nurse working in patient) where we had to do restraints/seclusions/take-downs, the risk of developing a hernia was too great before then for me even as a lap. Does your surgeon know the nature of your job? Physicalness etc? Your SAFE recovery is more important right now than anything! Maybe you need lighter duty for a few more weeks. Risks of hernias postop w/ open procedure is 20-25% (less than 1% w/ lap) again I am not saying you have a hernia, but please call the surgeon to be safe! HUGS! Dwight, I agree with Jamie, please check with your Dr..... I know my lap surgery lines sure were sore for a while and I would get those stinging little pains and it was my nerves healing, which took a while. Wish you all the best hun ~hugs~ Debra P

The most important thing to do is call your surgeon. He is the one who you need to ask. I am sure many people have had similar pains and feelings, but you cant compare yours to any one elses. Get it checked ASAP. How are you doing otherwise? How is the weight loss? How is the food intake? Havent heard from you in a while. Keep us updated ok. LisaMarie:fairy

Dwight- Call your doctors office now !!!! Even if your doctor isn't in call and leave a meesage with his service. You are still early out and your body is still healing. With open rny you are a good canidate for a insional (sp?) hernia. That why you should do no heavy lifting. Call your doctor. Donna Open rny mar 18 2003 282/145/140

hi Dwight, I agree with the others. Called your doctor immediately and if possible, go see him. You probably just strained something, but just to be safe, call. Yours, June
