Help!! 3 wks What amount is a meal?
I posted to NY board but really need help learning. I am just transitioning to blenderized foods. I have been eating 3/4 to 1 0z. of a variety of suggested cheeses a "meal".
With the more liquid things I feel comfortable with about 3 oz but have had the following experiences. I had about 3 oz. of cream of tomato soup 2 days ago. It was wonderful but about 1 3/4 hours later I had waterery diarrhea. Had about 3 oz. yoplait no fat yogurt same thing.
Is it too much food or just a food I should try again later?
With thicker textured stuff like Refried beans = meal amount? Cream of Wheat - What's amount = meal? I tried 1 oz of each and all was well, but wanted more.
With more liquified stuff what amount: Want to use blenderized soups - what amount is a 'meal'?
Since 2 weeks have been having trouble with getting the right sip amount. Sometimes end up with a really cramped feeling from my pouch, like an overfilled bottle. Takes about 10-15 min to go away. I am going to try the suggestion in pouch rules for dummies: 1/3 oz each five min.
Any other suggestions? I want to keep hydrated as I try new foods and my stomach responds. Thanks SueK
Hi,
You are adjusting--I still have the runs for no reason at all--I find that if the food is not chewed well or if I eat too fast --I will more than likely suffer. Just eat slowly(I use a timer) and take breaks between mouthfuls. Your pouch is brand new--and it has to adjust --just like you do. Personally --if diarrhea is my worst complication--I'll take it!
Sometimes , we tend to eat the way we did pre surgery--DON'T--eat VERY slowly and eat tiny amounts.
You'll be fine--by the way listen to your pouch--don't overfill it--that is the cramped feeling you're getting.
Be Blessed and eat SLOW!

Sue,
Well hun just give yourself time to adjust to this new lifestyle.
Just follow what your Dr says, take your time and notice how you are feeling while eating. I know for me it took a while to get a full feeling back again, that took some getting used to. I would eat what was suggested and I was satisfied with that, I did not have the full feeling bac****il about 4 months or so and then it is a different full feeling
Take some time to get used it it. It can be scary for sure learning the new way of the pouch.
I wish you all the best hun
Debra P
