i got my date!!!
Hi Jennifer, first of all congrats on getting a date. When is it???
Recovery time can vary for everyone. In about a week or two I was feeling much better. I didnt have alot of energy at that time but my wounds were feeling better and I was up and out alot. I have 4 kids so really I was up and out earlier but forcing myself to. It all depends on how your body heals, how the surgery goes. There are many factors to consider. But for lap the recovery is a little faster then if you have open. I had lap so i can only comment on what i felt. I was lucky, i was able to tolerate everything i tried. I didnt feel sick after eating. Many people have a little tougher time with recovery. Are you having lap or open?? Are you trying to plan for returning to work or just curious in general. Let us know....LisaMarie

Hi lisamarie
my date is 7/5 i am so excited but neverous of course and i have a bad cold and hope iit goes away soon. i wanted to go back to work like 10 days or so after the surgery because disability doesnt pay much . I am hoping because i am only 26 and am pretty healthy just overweight that my recovery time is quick. i have so much going on i am suppose to mive on the 1st of july but who knows i think i am going to have to pay the rent to the place but not move in until august.
i will keep you informed on my process
thanks so much for responding

Hi Jennifer
Congrads on the date, good ludk my dear. You know everyone recover at different rate, and it depends on how healthy the body is before surgery.
Recovery time for me was ok.I was sore at first ,the suture area was sore and itchy(this mean suture site was healing) I had diffucult time getting up and down in the chair. It was uncomfortable sleeping because I like to sleep on my side.So what I did was prop a pillow side of my belly and sleep on my side.As since all the uncomfortable was gone I was able to get around without difficulties within a week or two.A little hints from me, I know everyelse will jyme in and give you their little hints to recovery
.
I took 3mon off from work to recover because I wanted time off from work(ICU nurse)
You might not need that much time off but anyway good luck.
Have a nice day:

hi claire
thank you for repsonding. i do not want to take too much time off from work but if i have to i will. i figured i would take 10 days off but with all the reading i am doing i think i should take more.. i am just so neverous which i guess is normal i just hope everything goes ok. i never had surgery before never had to stay in a hospital so i am neverous but i figure it will be a nice vacation with no work and no one really bothering me. how much weight have you lost? i can see why you would take 3 months off . after i recover i planned on going to school to be a RN but i didnt think i would have bene able to do it and be heavy i wanted to be healthier. i admire your line of work .
thanks again
jennifer
Hi Jennifer
Recovery varies from patient to patient. I recovered immediately. I was in the recovery room at 12 and wide awake sitting up at 12:30 and on my feet at 4pm
I was operated on July 18, 2005 and returned to work on the 25th. it wasn't as bad as I expected. However, it is very tiring so I was only doing half days. If you have the time I strongly recommend it that you take it. Wait till your surgeon gives you a medical release to go back to work. Its well worth it to wait.

Marie,
Your recovery time is the kind i want ! i want to up and about right away . i wanted to take like 10 days off and then got back to work but not work a full shift. I am a department manager for a supermarket and i have enough help in my departmetn where i can come to work and kinda sit ack and jus****ch over people . How long after did you drive? I am 26 and consider myself pretty healthy and since my surery is only 2 1/2 weeks aways i have been doing a lot more walking around and eating very healthy so i hope all goes well
thank you for responding

Hi Jennifer,
Congratulations! When is your date? I am a patient of Dr.Ahmad also. I'm still awaiting my pre-approval, however, SEema has me penciled in for 7/31. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!
Keep in touch! Were you at the Anniversary Celebration he had this past Tuesday? I don't see your picture on your profile, I don't have one either yet. I HATE MY PICS.

maryellen,
my surgery is july 5th , everything happened so fast my first appointment with dr ahmad was april 25th . I havent posted a picture yet because i hate pictures i always hide from a camera which is pretty sad but anyone with weight issues knows how it is. what inusrance do you have? i have empire epo but i went through with my union at work so i didnt need any 6 month proven weight loss attmepts which was good becuase my doctor closed his practice a little while ago and since then i havent been to a doctor.
the great thing about dr ahamd , amanda and seema they are very knowledable about insurance companies and wont submit it unless they have a good idea that you will be approved! which is great.
good luck with everything keep in touch i want to know if you get your date by then or even earlier i was scheduled to go on 7/10 but amanda called me and asked if i could move it up to the 5th i was like of course! My job is great with it and have a lot of support from them .
like i said keep in touch let me know!
bye jenn
