not feeling full...
hi everyone,
just would like some feedback about something...Im 2 1/2 months post op and things are going well, other than the fact that I eat...and I never feel full after eating. I eat 1/2 cup at a time , at the most, and am just now transitioning to solids. So between the head hunger and not feeling full, some days are really hard!
has anyone else encountered this, or have any advice for me? thank you everyone for such a great board!
marcy
Marcy-
You sound just like me, I posted this question post -op.... I'm not to sure what surgery you had, but I had a rny, I am going on 4 years post - op. I didn't get the full sensation till I was 6 months out. And my sensation of "fullness" is no longer in my stomache but now is in my throat/ chest area. I was wondering what was wrong with me because I would read theses posts about people taking two bites and feeling stuffed, well that never happened to me. I think because we eat so little post- op , we don't fully fill our pouches so we don't feel full. Also, once you eat solid food, in particular meat your pouch will fill faster and you will experience fullness.

Hi Marcy,
I don't feel the head hunger as often as I use too--but I do feel hunger at times.
I get full fast if I eat any kind of meat and or bread.
Don't worry --you will get use to the true amount you can eat , and you will feel full--I tend to put too much on my plate (even now--after nine months)--- solid food will make a huge difference in the way you feel. A few bites of chicken (especially chicken breast) will fill youup like you"ve never been full before--in fact be real careful --or you will feel sick and you may dump!
But whatever you do DON'T WORRY!
Life will get better! and God knows--you are going to look and feel SO great in a few months--get ready for those compliments-- The rest of your Life is going to be worth being a little hungry now!
Be Blessed,
Marian S.C.

thank you ladies for replying to my post, i greatly appreciate it. The question I posted has been a concern of mine for awhile....lurking like a chocolate bar in the back of my mind!!!! Sometimes would get the better of me, making me think....well maybe this didnt work for me. I just try to keep doing what Im supposed to be doing, and stay positive.
thanks again, marcy
Hi again,
I just want to tell you that as I get farther out--I have actually wished for a complication--not that I really want one --but I would rather have a complication than get fat again. I don't want to be like Carnie Wilson or Al Roker --regaining weight--If I do --then why did I go through the surgery in the first place.
It does scare me--sometimes I wish there was a board for "oldtimers" --post-op patients who still have food issues and who want to be honest enough to admit that
1. they are still feeling hungry.
2. they are fearful of reversing their surgery (by stretching their pouches--or grazing to the point of regaining).
3. they eat much more than most of the other people that post on line.
4. they are feeling panic.
Oh so many issues that don't seem to be addressed.
Well anyway --you aren't alone-- so take comfort in that.
Be blessed,
Marian S.C.
