Long Island Support Group?

Hi guys, I was thinking how much I've been enjoying reading the posts on this site (thank you Lisa S. for advising me about this page) and was wondering if anybody was interested in starting a Long Island support group? (I've spent numberous hours of viewing the before and after pictures and reading profiles.) This doesn't mean that our friends who don't live on Long Island couldn't attend! Anybody would be welcome. I think it may benefit to meet every now and then. If you are interested, please post something here. Details to follow, where, when etc. Let me know your preference, my house, your house type of thing Or, Panera has a back room that is free to reserve for group meetings. I will be posting my picture soon. I know it is much nicer having a face with a name. If all goes well I'll have my surgery (RNY) on 7/31 with Dr. Arif Ahmad. Hi Maryellen, We have a support group at Good Sam Hospital every other Saturday morning if you are interested in coming. Not to say you can't start your own as well. I'm just letting you know that it is run by a nurse and 2 social workers. All are welcome. The next meeting is July 1st at 9 am in Guild Room. I also attend a group in Centereach. It's the 4th Friday of every month. The next meeting is this coming Friday at the Centereach Library on Eastwood St off Rt 25. at 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. If you do get a meeting together let me know. I may join yours as well. I also noticed that you are looking to have your surgery done w/ Ahmad. That was who I started with but ended up with Dr. Adaniel. Dr. Ahmad was very nice. I only changed drs due to insurance reasons. Good luck with your upcoming surgery. ~Angel 255 highest 222 day of surg 126 at Goal!

Hi MaryEllen, I was going to tell you about the same support group Angel mentioned...(Hi Angel ) A few of us from that group were thinking of starting a group as well (both RNY and lapband) since the Good Sam one meets every 2 wks. HI maryellen! YEs there is an OH suffolk county chapter. WHEN im on my home pc later ill email you her email to get in contact with the leader for meeting dates. THERE is another group too...but i dont know the people to get in touch with there anymore they stopped emailing me! ILL take care of this for you later hugs! AND OMG!!!! Hi Maryellen, Good Luck on your Up Coming Surgery..... I am definately interested in a Long Island Meeting. My House is Open would love to hold a meeting . I live in Centereach. L.I. I had lapband Surgery on 11/21/05 and Im 2lbs away from 100lbs lost. Please keep me posted if you do get a group together or if you want to use my house. Thanks, Donna
