Sometimes I am afraid...

Marian - This is a great post. I am 3.5 year post- op and I understand how you feel. I notice too that on this board everyone seem to be early out. I worry everyday about gaining back the weight.... My boyfriend sister had a rny 2 months before I did and she is slowly gaining her weight back. But when you stop and think about pre - op why were we eating, because we were hungry, or because we were trying to fill a void in our lives. For 99 percent of us it's all emotional. It always bugs me when I read these Carnie Wilson and Al Roker posts, because they are often mean spirited.....did you see how big Carnie got, shows insensitivity to her and their weight loss struggles. I saw Al a month ago on tv and thought he looked great. His waist couldn't be any bigger than 34 inches. I've too noticed that thoses of us further out never start theses "have you seen how much Carnie and Al have gain" posts. One theory why people further out don't post is because if they do suffer a setback do you want to post on a board with relative newcomers who don't understand your struggles after the honeymoon period is over. I always heard about the desire to eat coming back at some point, but honestly couldn't truly understand it till now. Also, one thing that is very rarely addressed on this board is that very few people ever reach their wl goal. The avg. weight lost from surgery is 50-70 percent. So if you were 100 pounds overweight depending on what type of surgery you had you are considered successful if you lose 50 - 70 pounds. But you would still be between 30 - 50 pounds overweight. That's reality, it seems very few people talk about. So technically even after gaining 40 pounds with the birth of her baby, Carnie Wilson is considered a success story.
