I told my MOM!

Dear friends, Well, I had my final tests done yesterday and I am now all set for surgery on Thursday, June 29th. My last item to take care of is final weigh in on Tuesday, June 27th. I cannot wait for the surgery to be over and to be past the post-op liquid diet stage! Believe me, it can't come fast enough. In other news, I finally told my Mother about the surgery. I was so very nervous about telling her. She lost weight on the SugarBusters diet about 5 years ago and looks great. I just figured she'd tell me something like "I lost weight without surgery and if I can do it, you can do it too. It just takes will power." Do you know what her reaction really was? She was ecstatic! She said she knew 2 women who have had the surgery and that they look and feel great and she has seen how they eat and what they eat and knows that I can do this and that I need this. I cannot tell you how shocked I was. I told her right before my one hour drive to the Dr's office and I cried a lot on the way and thanked God for His hand in my journey and for giving me grace with my Mom. She was so excited that she said she couldn't wait for my Dad to come home so she could tell him! I am just floored!!!! My sister comes in on Wednesday night, the 28th, and is going to be here for a week taking care of my little man and then me, when I get home. I have a teenage girl from church coming in for Thursday and Friday following her departure to help with Nathaniel. I really am not sure how long before I am left alone with him. You know boys, they are very rough and "needy", but he won't be able to jump up on me, or sit in my lap or have me pick him up for some time. Any thoughts? Six days and counting. I will soon be on the losing side!!!!!!! Laura

I bet you breathed a sigh of relief after telling your mom, especially after her reaction. I did not tell mine until after my surgery. She reacted the same way.........glad I had done something. Six days will fly by before you know it. Good luck to you. S

Thanks S. I did feel so much better after telling her. I also know that the time will go fast and I have so much to do before it comes. I must clean the house and bake for my family and hopefully get the lawn mowed one more time for my husband before I leave that job for the next 6 weeks. I will be very busy and I hope I don't forget anything. Laura

Laura, I'm so happy for you that your mom was understanding and supportive. It sounds like you've got a great network behind you and that will make things much easier. Good luck! Hugs - Robin

Thanks for your kind words Robin. I am very lucky to have the support that I have and I know I will need it. Nobody is more supportive than my husband and he has been wonderful through this whole process and I know he will continue to be. Laura

Lisa, Thanks for your kind words. I do hope that he understands and can keep himself from acting like himself for a few weeks. He loves to cuddle, though, which I love and I can't bear the idea of not doing that for 6 weeks! I will surely miss it. If he does good, though, I will be able to send my sister home early to her husband in Rochester. I guess I am just a little over cautious to make sure he is well taken care of in my absence of physical attention. Five days and counting! I CANNOT WAIT!!!! WAHOO!!!!! Laura
