Hi guys...well my date is July 10th and I just finished pre-op today. I was given a million packets to read and went trougha class on how to "help myself" recover. Well, I am struggling with one thing...PROTEIN! My Doc's office sells good stuff...but its waaayyyyyyy out of my budget. I heard Isopure Zero Carb is good powder.....I just want to know what tastes ok or good...I don't want to spend money on 3 lbs of something and then hate it Any recommendations???? Barbara Medford

Hi Barbara, Isopure is good. You might try GNC or other health food stores and see if they have sample packets (single servings) to try them out. I believe that Isopure also has protein drinks that are like flavored water and not creamy or shake-like. Then there is carb advantix in choc, vanilla, milk choc and strawberry. This comes in 4 packs and can be purchased at Walmarts or similar discount stores. Stallone puddings are 20 g of protein and creamy..choc, vanilla & a lemon variety. These can be purchased over the internet. All of the above are best when cold or cooled, especially the pudding. These all helped me along with Carb control choc milk (low fat) and carb control fat free milk. The protein powders can be mixed with 8 oz of milk for an extra 8 g of protein. Try as many varieties as possible...it really gets easier once you have a food plan in place with your products of your choice. The Bariatrix IS expensive but for a starter kit, it may help you. Best wishes and keep in touch. Linda M 230/138/115 (personal goal)

Hello, I am preop too.. .waiting for insurance approval and trying out all the stuff to prepare. I've found a protein shake called Nature's Whey, comes in vanilla, strawberry and chocolate, no sugar added but tastes great. Right now I'm adding 4-5 slices of frozen peaches or raspberries to the vanilla and mixing it up in the blender. It's the only one I've been able to stand and not outrageous. I got it at my local healthfood store. Good luck! Renee

Hi, Yeah seeing if they have samples is the best way to go. I don't recommend the ready made Isopure...but I like the powder. I mix it with Crystal light which may be too strong for you right away post op. Congrats on getting your pre-ops finished! Kristine
