Ferritin levels low???

I went to the Dr who did my WLS yesterday for a 10 month check up and my ferritin level ( your stored iron)was at a 7 (normal range being 10-291). However my Iron level was ok at 79 (normal range 35-155) They wernt concerned even though I complained of being tired all the time. I put a call into my PCP and am waiting a call back for there opinion. I need any advice from others who have had this also. Should I supplement my iron (i dont now, just whats in my multi, as this is the surgeons recamendations to all his paitents). If I should what kind do you reccomend.......I already have horrible constipation so im really afraid to take any!!

I had the same problem and my PCP suggested taking a daily release iron pill that you can buy at any drug store. Ever since both my ferritin and my iron levels are both good!

I had the same problem and ended up seeing a hemotologist for it. The course of treatment used was Veno Fer Iv 3x a week for 3 months. Worked like a charm and my numbers have stayed GREAT since I did that thearpy. I still have to take my daily iron supplements, but my fertin level has been holding steady at 200 since thearpy ended 1 year ago. Jane aka The LI Princess
