Tavia; More like malnutrition (*in general can lower immunity) & vitamin/mineral deficiencies I suspect. Mouth sores/canker sores are commonly caused by the B vits being low ESPECIALLY B6, Folic acid and B1 (thiamine) *but a host of others as well like B2 (RIBOFLAVIN), B3 (niacin), B5 (pantothenic acid), B12 as well Vit C, Zinc, Iron! So if your levels are low this is probably cause/exacerbating factor!!! I am sure your being checked for these levels routinely esp. with your malnutrition status, and are on a good B complex and various added sminerals/vits. (iron/zinc/thiamie/folate etc?). I know my clinical nutrition MD always checks my mouth (looking for signs of vit/min deficiencies) a quick google of canker sores and vitamin deficiencies will tell you all you want to know! Be well. Is this an unusual outbreak of cold sores for you? I get them now and then, but it's usually a small cluster on my lower lip. On a trip to Jamaica I woke up to find explosions of blisters going around my entire mouth. I looked like crap and felt like it, too, and I couldn't understand how come I'd suddenly have such a different outbreak. It turns out I'd been enjoying too many fresh mangos. Mangos are related to poison ivy. The icky stuff that causes all the trouble (a chemical called urushiol) is in the skin of mangos, especially near the stem area. Some people are especially sensitive to it. I still love mangos, but now when I peel them, I wear rubber gloves! Whatever it is, I hope you are soon feeling better!

Hi! I have been getting cold sores since I was little. I get them when my body gets run down, you know? That is strange with the mangos. My husband eats mangos all the time! Thanks for the well wishes.
