Seeking Key West Experts

Hi all and thanks for peeking into this post! Once again my two sons will be performing in Walt Disney World. We go down on 8/13 - 8/20 , and this is the third year in a row of Disney in August! My sons will be marching in the Tuesday evening main street USA parade and then I won't see them for the remainder of the week. They spend all their time with the band of 50+ boy scouts! Perhaps you might have caught them in a parade over the years? They are troop 236 Marching Band and they typically do 40 to 50 parades a season from Manhattan to Lake George, Rhode Island as well as the entire Hudson Valley! Phewwwwwwwww! Any way enough of the bragg, I plan to fly down to Key West on the morning of 8/16 as I have had more than my fill of Disney. I hear Key West is great and was wondering if any one might have any experience or reccomendations of what to do? Thanks All! Kenny

Kenny , Key West is my favorite place!! I lived in Fl and went there on weekends. Google search Key West Cams. They have live cams of the place . Look up The trolly tours That is the best thing to do . Also Mallory Square Sunset festival every eve.That is cool they have live preformers of unusual tricts like sword swallowing , flame eaters , cat man (my favorite) also alot of starving artists that are very unusual. Duval street has all the action .Check out Sloppy Joes bar . That place is so funny . Lots of weird shops . Dont mind the natives they are weird but harmless! I am so jealous I wannna come! Also there are Ghost tours , House tours of like where Hemingway lived ,Museums , Aquariums . Rent a scooter to see the whole place .Definetly do the Trolly tour . That will give you a great fun overview of my favorite place ! When you get back tell me all about it!!!!......................Kitty

Ohhhh I hope y'all have a good time. We were only there once and it's hubby's favorite place. I am planning vacation for next year and hubby says cruise is ok as long as we go to Key West. My laptop cord is out of commission and I'm waiting on another one so I haven't had much time to do research. I hope you will tell us all about your trip. Kristine

Howdy! Go to www.foodtv.net they will be able to give you a whole list of "stuff" to do and places to go for food and drinks! They did a whole show on Key West, it's a very unique place. If you aren't afraid of trying something new and risking enjoying it thoroughly whilst you can...Key West is for you. I have had a great time there, drinks were strong, food was good and the street performers were great. The ghost tours were ok, didn't see anything great happen and it cut into my drinking schedule at the time so for me, it was a yawn. Enjoy your trip and have a wonderful time.
