first off thanks for all the concern for me and well wishes! GOT to say love you guys because you really understand how scary it gets when our stomachs arent right. Well, i was throwing up blood yesterday, as i had figured BLACK vomit was. THE cause is i do have a stomach ulcer. IT wasnt a big one, and seemed to be healing already some on its own. MY surgeon put me on 8 weeks of Nexium. SO i feel fine and thats all this was. AND once again Dr. AHMAD was there returning my call yesterday fast and getting me in for the endscope right away. I just adore my surgeon and all his care and support POST OP!!! LISA

well we cant pin point what being the known triggers for a bypass person to get ulcers would be takeing motrin or advil...never touched post opt... Alcohol smokeing coffee And i havent touch one of those. I do have a stressful life so not sure if that did it ...i have to talk more on follow up with him being i was a bit clouded in the mind after the anestia. lisa

Lisa, YEAH i am glad to hear that is all it was....WOW...~Hugs~ I know it was scary when you are dealing with it but i know you are so glad that it is over and it was just the ulcer..... What signes did you have before you starting throwing up the blood? I know we have to watch this for our lifetime I guess after the surgery. Well I am so glad all is ok now, thanks for letting us know... Debra P

THANKS EVERYONE.... DEB...looking back i sort of always had an annoyance in my pouch when ever it was empty and for that over time i fed it and it always felt better. I guess i thought that was my post op hunger. So im thinking symptoms were there for some time actually. YES it was scary to throw up what i was pretty certain was blood. BUT ahmad is great and got me in following morning for a scope. I am sure if the throwing up didnt stop, he would have had me in ER on wednesday. SEEMS i had a stomach virus that triggered the vomitting being my son was feeling like throwing up last night. SO that caused the ulcer to bleed and now I know i have one. So for once im thankful for a stomach virus which i usually hate. SO glad the scale is moveing for you i am thinking now that i am on meds for ulcer and wont be uncomfortable when my pouch is empty i can get my eating on track and loose more now. HUGzzzzzzzzzzzzzz lisa

Hi Lisa, I just recently attended Dr. Ahmad's session on gastric bypass and have decided to choose him as my new surgeon. I had originally been going to Dr. Brathwaitte but had to fire him and start all over again. It is discouraging but I'm trying to keep my eyes on the prize. I've seen 3 other surgeons, Dr. Ahmad is the 4th and I'm hoping the last. I have my initial consult with him on Aug 10 and I wish the time would go by faster because I can't wait to start all my pre-op work over and get it done. I want to get this things scheduled as I feel my walking and breething gets worse by the day, not to mention my mental state. I'm thankful to hear about things like bleeding and ulcers after post-op so that I am aware to look for these things, just in case. This website is a Godsend for all of us and people like you who are so willing to share. Glad you found comfort and relief in getting to the bottom of the problem. You are on the mend now. Trish
