Hi, I had my lap RNY done in April. I had issues with a stricture and then things calmed down. But this past week, I've had pain on my left side, under my ribcage, sometimes extending to my back. I had an appt last week with my surgeon, but he's on vacation this week. I see my PCP on Sat, but the pain is getting to me so I called the GI dr that did my scopes for my stricture. He is not in, but they left a message for him to call me. Has anyone experienced anything like this? The pain is making me nauseous too. Any advice would help me! Thanks, Sue

Sue, Yeah speaking to the Dr is the best thing, I know when I had that pain (a while ago) it was my gallbladder and I had surgery for them to take it out. Do you still have yours? I know it went right after I had lost some weight (not after WLS, much before) so it could be from the weight loss..... i wish you all the best! ~hugs~ Debra P

Hey Debra....I Have Dr. Garber and I am 5 days post op. I have the same pain as Sue but hoping it will go away eventually since it is only 5 days. I have swelling and pain still and ALOT of gas which is getting "released" little by little. LOL...How did you fare after your surgery with Dr. Garber. I thought by now I would be able to function better than I am doing. I seem to eat fine and take protein fine. It is just the fact that I am still on Percoset pain meds every 6 hours still. Drains come out On Thursday( 9 days post op). Barbara

Definately sounds like your gallbladder - my attacks are just as you have described... I am pre-op for WLS but having my GB out in September. I have also had an esophageal stricture before and never had pain like the GB with it. You will need an ultrasound to diagnose. Good luck! Erin

If your able to eat, and not throwing up, it's probably not another stricture. I agree it sounds like gall bladder problems. Rapid weight loss can cause gall stones, even when your taking bile salts and other meds to prevent it. I hope that you feel better scott
