It's nice to read a little bit about everyone. Well hello to everyone! My name is Natasha and I'm 30 years old. Single and no children although I would LOVE to be married with children someday soon. I am currently playing the dating game (sigh) and let me tell you, it sucks. Men seem to stop short of wanting a long term relationship with me. So, I keep dating and hoping for Mr. Right to come my way! lol I have been living in Manhattan for 1 year and moved here from Los Angeles. I am a court reporter (still finishing school though) and I am about to be the proud momma of my 3rd yorkshire terrier next month. I plan to have RNY at Mt. Sinai Hospital and my surgeon is Dr. Kini. My surgery date has been schedule for 10/6. I am excited and have no fear of this procedure. It is a dream come true to me to be able to have a chance at actually being healthy. I have battled my weight my entire life. My lightest adult weight was 165lbs when I was 20 years old (I went from 218lbs to that doing diet and exercise) and my heaviest weight is 254lbs. I am 5'4" and now weigh 251lbs. I also have type II diabetes, sleep apnea, hypertension, and high cholesterol. Hoping that having this surgery will alleviate these conditions and maybe even obliterate them. Love this website! SO much support and information!

Great idea LisaMarie......Hello everyone I am a single 50 year young woman. I am a psychologist. My practice includes issues of emotional overeating also I in constuction on a website dealing with eating disorders. To really begin to understand my journey please read my profile. I am a very lucky woman in that I had the best surgeon of all....Dr. Spenser Holover.....Goddess Bless his hands. My surgery was on April 17, 2006 and I have lost 45 pounds in 4 months. I had the lap band. But the real deal was not only the 45 pounds, I have gained a life. A life beyond my wildest dreams. I am much more visiable now....I am not hiding behind a box of Sara Lee. No longer are Twizlers and M & M my friends....I use to reward my long work week by going to Walbaums and buying $50-$60 dollars worth of junk food and devouring it all over the weekend. And I say whats on my mind today....if I want to say no....I say no....if I want to say Yes....I say yes.....and I am saying Yes to life these days. I am so full of joy and I have a hunger for life now. This has been the best decision I have made for my life.....this journey rocks..... Hugs Susan

Hi Lisa Sweetie, you look fantastic!!! I'm Vi, 41 years old, had surgery Oct. 20, 2005 -- down about 121 lbs since surgery, 206 lbs since the highest I ever weighed (that I knew of) 8 years ago! My life has been amazingly transformed since the surgery and my decision to divorce (not surgery related) and all the other wonderful changes I've made this past year! Next Saturday my 2 boys(ages 8 and 11) and I are moving from the 3 bedroom house that we lived in for 6 years to a 2 bedroom condo a mile away (and across the street from my job). Everyone is adjusting well and I for one am THRILLED to finally be the truly independent woman that was always in there hiding behind the weight and an unhappy marriage! I'm helping run a support group with Lisa (another wonderful person I met in this journey) and I have met the most amazing people there and on this board and throughout this wonderful process. I feel like I'm in love with LIFE again! HUGS, Vi

Hi Lisa Marie, This is a great idea! . I turned 43 on June 5th an had my surgery Oct 17, 2005 am 5'4" and have lost about 125#'s and wear a 12 - 14 size. My hubby (of almost 20years) and I have been blessed with 2 kids. Our 18 year old daughter who we take to college for her freshman year tomrrow and our 16 yr old son who is awesomme but couldn't be more different than our daughter. I am also a registered nurse. I had my surgery for most of the same reason that you all did but my true motivation was that 5 years ago I was diagnosise with Multiple Sclerosis. At which time I was put on steroids often and high doses but I also had a huge dose of "what does it matter anyway" and gluttened out big time. I figured at the very least the weight loss will make it eaiser to get arund and it has done that wonderfully. Unfortunatey my disease still runs at will but everyday I can get up and move my arms and legs the rest is all bonus. I have to admitt that, with the exception of the last 2 weeks, I have found the diet almost easy to follow but the exercise part I simply physically can't do. I find these boards my mainstay in terms of support and am grateful for everyones input. thanks - Ann

LisaMarie, Hun great idea. I am glad to hear you are doing well. Hello all, I am Debra from Upstate NY, 41 this year...Had my surgery on June 6th 2005 and down 125 lbs. Wearing Med or 8-10 pants and Med/Small shirts, from wearing 28-32's. Feeling so much better and still learning that I have lost THAT much weight. Also working on changing my old bad habbits to some healthy ones. WOW that is not easy!!!! Learning slowly and sometimes it gets so frustrating but this is something I have to do to change my life forever. I will NEVER go back to the way things were before. I so wish I had done this surgery sooner but I guess things happen when they are meant to right. Thanks for reading... Debra P
