Lap-Band Sushi

Don't know if this has ever been posted or discussed before, but since being banded I have not been able to eat sushi. I really just liked non-raw sushi like California Roll, but you can't really cut it up and you can't really chew it without a piece falling apart. Also, the rice isn't so wonderful going down and adds a bunch of calories. SO, along with my favorite sushi restaurant they make me California hand rolls with no rice. It's a piece of seaweed with crab stick, cucumber and a strip of avocado. can be chewed, dipped in soy sauce, and goes down marvelously. My favorite restaurant has started doing this now on their menu as a low carb option. So, for you sushi eaters that miss their sushi, you should be able to get any roll that has rice in a hand roll without rice. Yum!

Hey Steph sushi is not a good thing to eat with the band. Tried all kinds and nothing seems to go down good. I also had Dr. Roslin do the band in early November. Going for my second fill in 2 weeks. Down 40 lbs so far. Maybe you will have better luck with the su****han I did

Hi Stephanie, I didn't have the band, I had the bypass but I do get the same thing you do at my local sushi place! I love it w/o the rice. But to be honest, I can now 1 1/2 years post op eat it w/ the rice! Good Luck, Ilyssa P.S. John, your way too early post-op for Sushi, give it another few months and try again.
