Recovery... mobility limitations after surgery
Hi Alfreda,
Are you having open RNY or Lap? Well I can't speak for myself but a friend of mine had Lap RNY 2 weeks ago and she feels great! The first week she had great mobility but just tires fast. Her 2nd day home she was going up & down the stairs to do laundry. (she had the kids carry it of course ) but still I was very surprised.
Now being 2 weeks out she is never home! I call her all the time and she always out doing something....LOL. I too live alone and hope to have Lap RNY in the next month or two. I'm not at all worried about being alone. I have friends and family that will check up on me if need be.
I also know someone who had the open RNY and drove herself home from the hospital! That's a bit much I think!! To much to soon can take it's toll.
Good Luck to you!
Debi

ty for your answer... sorry getting back to you so late.. i dont sign on much any more.. my concern is that i dont have any family and no friends i could call on to come to my apt and help me so i'm just a little worried about something happening... but i guess i'll just have to take a chance..thanks again

Hello. Recovery for everyone is very different. Depends on the type of surgery and your personal tolerance for pain, how the surgery goes etc. I had lap and recovery was pretty easy. I was in the park with the kids just 3 days post op{JP drain and all } lol....Pain was minimal. I was walking around just hours post. Open may take a little longer. Again everyone is different. Discuss with your surgeon . Do you have kids? Younger ones take a bit more energy from you , hard but can be done alone as long as no carrying and stuff involved. Best of luck to you....Keep us posted.
