Hi all! Well I had my 1st consult w/surgeon today. Went very well. He seems to be very nice and wasn't rushing me through anything. I filled out more paper work made my appt with the excersise guy and I'm going to a support group meeting on the 4th. The nurse told me that I should probably get a surgery date around the end of July. That seems so far away!!! I guess that is good, that will give me more time to quit smoking. I am having such a hard time giving them up all together. I have cut down alot but I can't seem to give them up entirely. HELP!! I also had my appt with the Pysch, which also went well. Really strange questions they ask you but I know its to see if I am all there....LOL Which I am! So now the countdown continues....I don't think I can get excited yet...not until I know I am approved through the Ins comp. I'll keep ya's posted! Debi

Debi, A couple more steps closer to getting that date. I know it feels so good when you are moving forward on these things. I wish you all the best and with giving up the smoking! What about asking the Dr for the patch? :ksis: Debra P

Hi Debra, Thanks! I just put my last patch on today! They are not working for me. I have a script of Wellbutrin that I am going to try. I'm just not to keen on that becasue it's also used for depression...so we will see. Debi

Hi, Debi. So the journey begins.... That's great. You won't believe how fast July will come, I'm not kidding. About ciggies. You must have heard of "Chantix" medicine. It is relatively new. There are quite a few people that I know who were hard core - long time smokers who no longer touch them. You are permitted to smoke while on it and eventually the desire is just not there. It is a whole new ballgame and reaches different brain receptors than Wellbutrin. I never tried it but many people consider this treatment like a miracle. The down side is your insurance might not cover it. You know though, if you paid from pocket it would pay for itself in no time. Also you can't put a dollar amount on your health. Good Luck with everything. Take Care~~ Diane
